Hey everyone, I’m Shahmir, and I’m running for Secretary of the BJJ Society!

BJJ has been one of the best parts of my uni experience, and I want to contribute beyond just training. I’ve really enjoyed being part of this community, and I’d love to help keep things running smoothly so more people can get involved and make the most of it.

As Secretary, I’ll make sure all the admin is handled properly—whether that’s sorting paperwork, keeping things up to date, or making sure everyone stays in the loop. I’m reliable, organised, and happy to do the behind-the-scenes work that keeps the society running.

Hello, my name is Lara and I am applying for the position of the BJJ society’s secretary as I believe the contribution of my skills will help the society run efficiently and with increased organization. During the year, societies can face many problems behind the scenes ranging from poor communication between members (as we are all busy students studying different courses) to finding it hard to plan and organize ideas, such as socials, so that they make it from concept to reality. Since I have direct experience with producing accurate recounts of meetings, dealing with planning and organizing tasks based on priority and deadlines, and ensuring that all tasks are completed within those harsh deadlines due to studying computer science, I believe my involvement as the society’s secretary can lead to many benefits. Such examples are: reduced organizational stress for other committee members, an increase in planned events and improved relaying of information to society members about committee decisions and upcoming socials. Additionally, I have been a regular participant of the Tuesday and Friday sessions since semester 1 and know many other applicants of other positions well which guarantees smooth collaboration between all new committee members with my guidance as a secretary.
