Hi everyone!

A little about me: my name is Kiana, I'm currently a 1st year and I am applying for the role of EDI rep. Some of my hobbies include playing the cello and writing poetry. (I'll try not to rhyme too much, although it would be a nice touch.)

Why me?
I am passionate about helping to create an inclusive environment for everyone to be able to thrive in and to feel comfortable in. By gathering and sharing feedback to the appropriate groups, I will ensure that EDI initiatives not only remain in MSRC but are also improved and developed. I would like to welcome students to share any concerns with me, ensuring that their voices are heard and proactive action can be taken.

Previous experience:
By volunteering on a youthboard for a national charity, I have built my organisation skills and reliability, demonstrating capability to thrive under pressure. Additionally, I joined the wellbeing subcommittee in the organisation, diversifying the groups of people that I interacted with. As well as this, I am a young leader in a large orchestra, acting as the first point of contact for my peers if they require assistance.

These experiences have provided me a greater insight into the large role that equity, diversity and inclusion play. I hope to use these to help to represent a wider range of students.

In conclusion, I fully believe that I am approachable and supportive to any that would come to me, thank you for the consideration.

I would like to nominate myself to continue as an EDI Representative next year. This year, I have helped advocate for key changes such as separating exam days and increasing OSCE practice from Year 2. I am committed to ensuring all student voices are heard, from disability support to overall wellbeing, and would value the opportunity to continue building on this progress.

Hi guys, my name is Mikayla and I am a currently in 2nd year and I would like to run for EDI rep this year.

I have a lot of experience in resolving conflicts related to sexuality, disability and ethnicity in my secondary school as an EDI representative, and this is why I understand that EDI should be a core focus in medical education so future healthcare professionals can better understand diverse patient experiences. Through my previous EDI role, I have learned how important it is for students to feel valued and supported, this improves our wellbeing and mental health and I feel prepared to ensure that we can maintain a safe and welcoming environment this upcoming year, one of my main goals.

I’m applying for the EDI Representative role because I care deeply about ensuring our medical school is a place where every student feels supported, respected, and able to thrive. Equity, diversity, and inclusion shouldn’t be side conversations, they should be embedded in everything we do.
I want to actively promote inclusivity across our cohort by supporting initiatives that make a tangible difference to students’ experiences.
