Hi! Im Katie and im currently a first year, but will be going into my second year of Social Policy, Sociology, and Crime in September! I would like to nominate myself for social sec as I love planning, organising, and hosting events! With my love for going on nights out combined with my creativity I think i would be the perfect candidate for organising socials that everyone can enjoy! I love working with others in a team, but I would also love this opportunity to work on my leadership skills and taking initiative in event planning! 3

Hiiiii everyone,

My name is Sophia and I’m running for the social sec position for 25/26. At the start of my first semester, I wandered around the freshers fair looking out for what I could join. What I loved about this society was the affordability, friendly nature and atmosphere - goes without saying all the fun socials which were in the making.

The committee members for this year couldn’t have been more approachable and friendly. I would love to replicate this atmosphere for freshers joining in September (this is so scary typing this - in denial I’m not going to be a fresher anymore).

I have some of my absolute best friends in this society and for those that know me, know how much I love a night out (arguably too much) but I also recognise the importance of a more chilled, sober social too (unless there’s discounted drinks sorry not sorry). In addition to this, I absolutely love using my creativity (with the help of trusty Canva, those that get it, get it) to create plans, posts and help organise exciting socials!

I have throughly enjoyed the experience of being part of this society this year which I think is evident from my attendance to *most* events and socials - I even gave the netball a go (let’s just say I may need to try a little bit 🤏 harder next year).

I want to end this by saying it would be an absolute pleasure to create events for you all to enjoy with the help of any ideas and input you may have & alongside the other committee members.
