Hi, my name is Lauren and I am currently coming towards the end of year 2 at Leeds medical school.

So far, I have really enjoyed this year with a step up in learning more clinical skills, deepening my anatomy knowledge and learning new pathologies. Since being introduced to PALS in my first week of university, I have found it incredibly helpful to develop my understanding of lectures and feel supported. Especially with the large volume of content that is covered in year 2!

I think it is great to have a society that is accessible to anyone at any level of the medical school to be taught by those who have been through it. I would love to have the opportunity to give back and be a part of that.

I have worked in several teams both before and during university such as Duke of Edinburgh and STEM group projects, in which I have enjoyed working with others and have developed my organisational skills. Having a qualification in public speaking has developed my ability to present clearly and confidently. I have an ECDL qualification in using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel which is great for quickly creating presentations and revision resources. Having attended every lecture and group work in year 2, I feel I have a good understanding and knowledge to share with others.

My name is Wajahat Khan, and I am eager to express my interest in joining PALS as the PALS 2-Co Lead to organise teaching sessions for Year 2 medical students. As a committed advocate for medical education, I bring a blend of academic excellence, leadership, and teaching experience.
My leadership roles in various student organisations have honed my organisational skills, enabling me to plan and execute effective educational sessions. Additionally, I have a passion for teaching and have successfully delivered sessions for Year 1 students, receiving positive feedback for simplifying complex concepts and creating engaging learning environments.
If elected, I plan to develop structured, interactive teaching sessions aligned with the Year 2 curriculum. I will establish a feedback system to continuously improve session quality, promote peer teaching programmes, and create high-quality study materials to supplement learning. Additionally, I will ensure our sessions are inclusive and supportive, catering to diverse learning styles. I will also advise students based on the mistakes I made during my second year, one of the most challenging years of medical school.

Hi everyone,

My name is Rachel and I am a second year medical student. I would like to apply to be one of the PALS2 co-leads for the coming academic year.

Having been part of the PALS committee as a PALS1 co lead, I have gained experience in working with the other co leads, in organising regular revision sessions, and providing revision quizzes for the current first year medical students. By having the opportunity to also lead a few sessions myself during the past year, I have gained valuable advice and feedback, which I hope to build on and improve on the upcoming year.

I would love to have the opportunity again to be part of PALS this coming year and contribute in helping fellow peers.

Hello everyone!

I’m Abi, and as I near the end of my second year, I’m excited about the opportunity to become a PALS2 Co-Lead for the next academic year.

My four years working in a pharmacy have refined my teamwork and communication skills, crucial for effective peer teaching. Additionally, my role at an international summer school has significantly developed my organisational abilities, essential for planning and delivering structured learning sessions.

I have hands-on experience in teaching and communication through delivering CPR training to the public and fellow University students, so peer-teaching is not unfamiliar! This experience not only deepened my passion for medical education but also taught me how to break down complex concepts into understandable parts, a key skill for peer teaching.

Understanding how daunting second-year content can be, I aim to help students navigate challenging topics with enthusiasm and clarity. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this year’s material, and I’m eager to share that passion through engaging and accessible teaching sessions.

My name is Rubab Ali, and I am a second-year medical student. I am applying for the position of PALS2 Co-lead, driven by my passion for teaching and my commitment to helping fellow medical students.

Last year, as a PALS1 Co-lead, I organised multiple sessions and conducted several myself. This role provided me with valuable insights into the society's operations and workload management. I gained experience in designing slides, delivering and recording lectures, and utilising relevant technological skills ensuring comprehensive and engaging educational content. I learned the importance of clear, concise presentations and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet students' varying needs. This just fuelled my passion for teaching and I am eager to be a part of this society again.

I have also worked at a tech-ed company in Lahore, Pakistan where my role as a teaching associate for A level and GCSEs included recording lectures on various topics and making them accessible to students. I also conducted past paper review sessions. This role allowed me to engage with a diverse online audience, enhancing my ability to connect with and support students from different backgrounds.

I am particularly impressed by this society's commitment to helping other medical students. I believe I am the perfect candidate for this position as my teaching experiences have instilled in me the qualities essential for this role. This added with my friendly nature is the perfect input needed for this position.
