Hello! I am Hannah Minton, and I am running for secretary this year!
I joined the society as a fresher at the start of this year, and I have absolutely loved all the events that I attended, so much so that I would love to play a more active role in helping the society run next year. Being a first-year product design student has been a bit of a roller coaster, from crashing out over SolidWorks to celebrating the collapse of our bridges and so much more, and I have loved every second. A large part of the reason I love being a product design student so much is because of the community spirit and collaborative space of design studio A, of which this society is hugely influential – being able to get to know my own year group better, but also the older years with their advice and stories, has been beyond helpful (and often hilarious too).
As secretary, I would help the society continue to run by helping to organise committee meetings, managing society memberships and organising elections within the society. I am keen to grow the membership of the society so that it is able to thrive year-upon-year, after all the effort the current committee put in to get the society officially recognized. Note-taking in the committee meetings is also an essential part of the secretary role, and I think my current experience in a similar role as 1st year course rep would make me good for this position. I do believe that strong organization within, and across, the committee through to society members is essential to keeping the society alive and functional, and this is what drew me to this role.
