Hey I’m Nikita! Being local to the area of Leeds and having experience working with schools will allow me to work efficiently in this role. In my first year I was a Regional Lead for the widening participation scheme In2MedSchool. This meant I matched medical student mentors from Leeds university with sixth form students across Leeds and Bradford. This meant keeping records of schools, their academic performance, gaining school contacts, writing school newsletters, liaising with teachers etc. I also have grown up in this area so have a great picture of the schools around, idea for this role.

As many of you will know exposure to medicine, whether that be having a conversation with a doctor or shadowing, is incredibly significant in choosing the degree. There are many factors that students will be unaware of when applying to medical school, such as the research aspect of the course. There are also students who don’t believe they are capable of studying Medicine or of just how broad the field is. It is really important that we help students gain this insight which they can factor into the decisions they make.

I will facilitate my organisation skills and dedication to fulfilling this role in the most efficient manner.
