I'm Muhannad Saad and I am from Palestine.

My whole life has been an attempt at telling our story, and I think I got pretty good at it. No one ever taught me or you about the Palestinian identity, I aim to change that by sharing pivotal moments that have been underlooked and ignored through interactive digital content. My goal is to use the LeedsPsg platform as a hub of knowledge about palestenian history, culture and entertainment to increase followers and engangement and create an everlasting community.

Hi! I’m Zarnaz, a PhD student at the University. I am applying to join Leeds Palestine Solidarity Group (PSG) as Social Media Officer. I wholeheartedly admire the group's efforts to raise awareness on campus and advocate for a free Palestine. My support for the Palestinian people and the inspiring advocacy of Leeds PSG drives me to take a more active role in amplifying their voices. Recognising the importance of social media in shaping narratives and mobilising support, I am eager to join the PSG committee to facilitate meaningful action.

My 5 years of experience overseeing social media for blood cancer charity, Marrow, followed by an additional year managing the digital presence of the Leeds Bengali Society as Social Media Coordinator taught me the importance of empathy-driven storytelling and the power of digital advocacy. In my role with Marrow, I learned first-hand the impact of sharing personal stories of hope and resilience. These narratives not only raised awareness but also encouraged tangible action, leading to more donations, volunteer sign-ups, and community engagement. Through content planning and targeted campaigns, we were able to amplify our message, reaching a wider audience.

Drawing from my experience as Marrow's Social Media Coordinator, where I dedicated substantial efforts to dispelling misinformation, I am eager to bring this expertise to PSG. My goal is to provide Leeds students with accurate information, facilitating informed discussions and empowering students to act.

Also, I am excited to continue promoting speaker events, educational workshops, and cultural events that not only raise awareness but also celebrate the rich heritage and resilience of the Palestinian people. I aim to amplify these important initiatives, via Instagram and TikTok, ensuring more engagement and leaving a lasting impact on the Leeds community.

Overall, I hope to bring my experience and dedication to PSG as Social Media Officer. If elected, I will strive to amplify student voices, broaden our reach, and stand in solidarity with Palestine.

Hello! My name is Layla Alani-Bennett and I am really excited to be running for Social Media Officer for Leeds PSG.

I've been fighting for Palestine since my mum explained to me as a child why we don't by dates that are 'made in Israel'. I want to use this position to continue building momentum for our movement and start pushing for real change. Im currently trying to organise a film screening in Hyde Park picture house and a fundraising event at Hyde Park book club- vote me in if you want to see these things happen in the coming months!!

If you've been to any of our walkouts or protests this year, you will have heard one of my speeches or joined in with our bellowing chants. I have been running the @LeedsPSG instagram since October last year and since then we have gone from 1,300 followers to almost 2,800! Being active on the account and frequently advertising our initiatives has brought in massive numbers to our events and protests and I hope to continue making this happen. I have also been interviewed by Channel 4, Sky and Novara news advocating for Palestine and in protest of our governments and universities complicity of the ongoing genocide. With the journalist connections and social media experience I have, I want to continue building our public recognition and reach out to masses more in our fight for Palestine.

A vote for me is a vote for a collaborative, inclusive committee that seeks to empower the people around us and grow our support system. Together, we will continue building this community in our fight against oppression. The people, united will never be defeated!
