Vice Captain
The Vice Captain of the University of Leeds Rifle Club plays a crucial supportive role, working closely with the Captain to ensure the smooth running of the society. This position involves assisting with leadership duties, promoting the sport, and fostering a welcoming environment for all members.
Key Responsibilities:
Supportive Leadership:
- Assist the Captain in providing leadership and direction to the society.
- Step in for the Captain when they are unavailable, ensuring continuity in leadership and activities.
- Help organize and lead regular meetings, practices, and events.
Safety and Compliance:
- Support the Captain in ensuring all activities comply with safety regulations and university policies.
- Assist in conducting safety briefings and training sessions for new and existing members.
- Help maintain up-to-date knowledge of firearms regulations.
Coaching and Development:
- Aid in providing coaching and support to members of all skill levels.
- Assist in organizing training sessions, workshops, and competitive events.
- Encourage participation in inter-university competitions and help coordinate the society’s involvement.
Administration and Communication:
- Support the management of the society’s budget and financial records.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of membership, attendance, and equipment.
- Help manage the society’s communications, including social media and email correspondence.
Promotion and Outreach:
- Assist in promoting the Rifle Society within the university to attract new members.
- Help develop and maintain a strong online presence.
- Participate in outreach activities to raise awareness of the sport and the society.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience in rifle shooting, with a strong understanding of safety protocols and best practices.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities, with experience in supporting teams or groups.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate members.
- Commitment: A dedicated and proactive approach, with the willingness to support the Captain and commit time and effort to the role.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in rifle shooting and safety training are desirable but not mandatory.
