I can't believe it's nearing the end of Year 1, but I couldn't imagine my life as a freshie in any other club! The society that this committee has built is filled with so much laughter, friendship and sick cricket skills 🔥🔥🔥 There are a million other girls out there that would love to get involved in something like this, which is why I would love to share all the cricket spirit on social media.

When I first came to Leeds I was running round like a headless chicken trying to find a sport society to join after I face planted in my netball trial... and that is where I came across the UOLWCC instagram and spoke to the lovely Annabelle. To be honest without Annabelle being so welcoming and helpful with my millions of questions, I wouldn't of plucked up the courage to join in with the Cricket Netball match the next day. The posts were also a strong point in showcasing what a brilliant club this is, and that's before a came across the TikTok...

I loved using different platforms to make content because being involved with the Netball and Tour TikTok's this year was amazing. They captured some of the funniest moments that brought us all together.

I thought I'd bullet point a couple of the qualities I have that would work well with being Social Media Sec, instead of forcing you to read too much!

- I understand how useful of a tool social media is because it's a big part of my Uni degree (Fashion Marketing). I know how to promote events, keep people in the loop and create awareness to the new freshers next year!

- My daily average screen time is 10 hours so it's safe to say I'm familiar with the media...

- I have tried out many parts of this society (Cricket, Netball, Tour, and Socials) and will get involved with literally everything next year (did someone say 3 Peaks?😍) so I can build good relations with you guys and be aware of all the events to post.

- A couple of my TikTok's went viral and I plan to use the same techniques to make UOLWCC WORLD WIDE!

- I'm actually amazing at taking pictures on a night out, just my talent got cut short when I dropped my digital camera down the Mischief toilets (it's a loss that still hurts 7 months on).

- I love working with other people and being organised, so next year would be a breeze in making sure there are quality, consistent posts, and also communication between us all, I love chit chat and including everyone's views and achievements.

I don't think that counts as bullet points when I wrote so much for each of them, but the gaps trick you into thinking it's a quicker read😉

Anyway before I waffle too much I'd like to finish by saying Women's Cricket has created so many life long memories that deserve to be shared. Not only would this reach a new audience of girls but I'm also aware how active this club is so I would share all the exciting events so everyone feels involved, I have some exciting plans!

I would love to be apart of the Committee because it would be an honour to carry on all the hard work you girls put in this year that made the club so special. Thanks for taking the time to read, UOLWCC FOR LIFEEEE💚💚💚

Hello wonderful UOLWCC,

Firstly, it is truly an honour to be a part of this club. I’ve never had 8 consecutive months of such consistent fun, silliness and photography (popworld’s official photographer?).

When people ask me about attending the University of Leeds, the first thing I tell them is about cricket, followed by showing them the hundreds of photos from Wednesday nights and other club outings (my poor phone storage). Joining cricket has reignited my love for playing cricket, led me to form incredible friendships and get far too silly on a Wednesday night (and a love/hate relationship with frosty jacks?). Joining cricket has made my university experience and allowed me to make some incredible friends (even family #ilovemymum). The only important days for me have become Wednesdays and Fridays (naturally). The amount of love I have for this club deserves to be shared… and using social media I feel I can reach new members, encouraging them to join this glorious club.

Social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and TikTok are important ways to showcase this amazing club, displaying some unreal cricket ability (bleed green), the welcoming, friendly and fun nature of training and the socials as well as charity initiatives. I feel I would be great at creating regular, informative and engaging posts. I am organised even at the worst of times; Thursday mornings are a key example of this. Often having a bit too much fun on a Wednesday (chops), sadly come Thursday morning I’m not in the best of ways. However, every week the camera pics make it onto the group chats. And next year I hope to share a lot more than just camera pics. Camera pics? I think me and the camera have become one, especially in Pop world, never missing a photo opportunity. Next year I plan on bringing the camera out of Popworld and channelling this when attending club events, capturing the best UOLWCC moments. I feel I can do this successfully due to attending as many UOLWCC events as I could this year especially training. Trying to get involved in as much as possible (just love cricket too much) therefore I will be able to easily create engaging content for our social media platforms.

Additionally, this year has been my first time picking up a cricket bat in 9 years (I’ve been missing out) and now the only thing I want to do is train, watch and play cricket. So, I’m really excited about the idea of getting to document and share games next year, showcasing how incredible this club really is. Next year I plan on attending BUCs matches to firstly watch and enjoy but also to get full coverage of the games to exhibit the talent this club has. As well as using the insta and TikTok to share the fresher fair, and even get myself down to the netball court (so eager).

Another important aspect of this role, is communication from communicating with committee including that of team captains, club members and non-members; being able to answer questions quickly (don’t worry I’m always on my phone) and in a friendly and welcoming way; especially when replying to Instagram dms. I hope people would agree that I’m a friendly individual always happy to chat (let’s talk all things cricket always). I have big plans for the social media next year (following in our icon Annabelle’s work and continuing this) to increase engagement and to ensure all other members of committee’s hard work goes noticed. Displaying the continuing success of the club.
