Hello UOLFS from UGANJA!!! Wait sorry. I mean… Hello UOLWCC from EARTH!!!

As you can tell, I still have not gotten off the boat. I now long for Poreč. I want to go back. I need to go back. Not only was tour an essential life experience (says it on my t-shirt souvenir) but it was the best week of my life. However, I must introduce myself to you girls first before you let me take YOU on the best week of your lives.

A bit about me:
I Like mysterious green drinks
I like UOLWCC
and I like being blue
HOWEVER:
I don’t like Men’s Lacrosse’s yam
And I don’t like fire extinguishers

So, how was tour? Tour is like a 4 day and night Wednesday social blackout bender where you only remember what happened through the finsta sec’s 1 MILLION of the finest of fine pictures. Hope you get the idea. But you do it with all your best friends! As someone who felt like an almost outsider before tour, I have really bonded with everybody, and I can’t wait to be more involved within the society. The TikTok time Marv and I had every day should really be enough of an incentive it isn’t all about drinking, but also about the genuine time you spend with different people. Alice was amazing and helped me through this journey, along with all the girls (and Tom!) who made this week unforgettable.

This position would be perfect for me because not only was I up for a good time all the time, but I really tried to be there for everybody on the trip. It wasn’t always sunny, but I sure did uber assist in any way I could. Which I feel is important as a group leader to be able to combine both organisational, welfare and social aspects to ensure everybody feels safe and has a great time, not only on tour, but at every event.

Although some of you might not know me, some important tick the box criteria includes: being head prefect in sixth form, strong and authentic connections with current/ running candidates for committee 25/26, great connections in the events industry, I do politics at uni (therefore great leadership and organisational skills), I work at the Skyrack, I adore Jager bombs (they don’t adore me after half a litre of vodka and 20 headfuckers) and finally, I really loved events and tour from this year and would so love to make sure everyone can have the same experience, but even better for next year!

Now I know this position is not just about tour, and it is a highlight of the position, so other aspects of the responsibility I want to vitalise by being more involved in the club for 25/26. Tour is not for everybody (coming from someone who contemplated even signing up for tour last year- BUT thank Uganja that I did), thus I will make sure throughout the year there will be a trip or event that will tick all your boxes. Events like Varsity, the ball, the races, and sober events will be top contenders where you will see my face, or even at Alice’s rollover if I’m not at the Skyrack. I know a Wednesday can sometimes be heavy; therefore, I want to be a nice warm welcome in other parts of the club. Perhaps a few more trips and event ideas are pending... cost efficient and still fun? Count me in. I would also love to hear some ideas you guys have as well and bring them alive for the club.

I really hope you can understand from this gibberish that I am so missing being in Poreč with the girls, and I wish lots of you will join me on tour in 2026, and all the other events that are organised throughout the year!

I’m starting my first draft of this candidate statement on the little notes app on my phone. Tour’s just ended and we’re on the plane home to planet Uganja. I was just looking out the window, taking in the gorgeous sunset, and all I can think about it is….shit that was the greatest week of my life. I’ll take one million more plus one for Imogen.
I could not put into words what an incredible week tour has been. Alice Miller did such an incredible job as this year’s tour sec and I want to take a moment in this statement to say a huge thank you to her. Nothing could bring down our collective moral, and that is exactly what you want from a week like that.
This brings me on to why I’m writing this. I am running to be your trips and events secretary. Why? Because I want everyone to make everlasting, incredible memories in this club. Specifically, I want other girls in this club to experience the magic that is tour, and I want to be a part of making that magic more than anything.
For those who don’t know me, I’m Isabella! I’m a first-year biomed student. BUT the most important thing to know about me is that I’m going to be the first to agree to anything. I have the biggest “YOLO” mentality and will be the last to call it a night – even if that means I’m going to bed at 10 the next morning.
At the beginning of the year, I went to my very first cricket alone, dressed as a dog. This was well out of my comfort zone, but it was probably one of the greatest decisions of my…the same can’t be said for the 4 shots and 1 headfucker I had on the first night of tour then throwing up (but to be fair, diva did get back up again!) …. or the decision to get with uolmlcc’s tour dog.
I was so shy, but I kept pushing – week after week I’d dress in the goofiest of outfits and have a great night with the loveliest of girls that I’m so lucky to now have as friends. A couple months later and I’m in Porec with all these incredible girls (…and Tom), and I have so many amazing memories (but no bedroom and bathroom door thanks to the lacrosse boys). This society has become a huge part of girlhood for me, especially tour. There was a sense of belonging that you can’t find anywhere else.
Right. Now I’ve done a lot yapping. You’re probably asking, “what makes you fit for this role?”. Which is convenient because I was just about to tell you. There are 100 ways I make me a good candidate. 100 loving ways!
• I’m the person in my group who plans trips away.
• I’ve always got my phone on hand.
• I’m a good listener and work well in teams so would love to work closely with girls in the club to coordinate the perfect plan for the trip to make it the most fun as well as cost-effective (because budgeting and being financially aware are some other super cool qualities I have).
• I am well-organised with great time-management skills. And you can’t do a degree like mine without having a lot of resilience too.
• Back in 6th form, I was assistant head girl and head student wellbeing coordinator, meaning I’ve had to work closely with a lot of people and arrange events each week for my peers.
• Finally, over the past year I’ve come out of my shell completely. I love going to socials and have a high attendance.
I’m aware this role goes beyond tour, and that not everyone wants to go on it. I am ready to become an active member of the UOL freak society throughout the year. I want to make it a space where everyone feels comfortable and included by hosting more fun events such as team meals and help organising the ball. I want to be a part of building a community again next year because I know how it feels to try find where you belong by yourself
So, to conclude, are you? are you? coming on our tour? Well, if that’s a yes, get ready to go to war with Leeds Becket cheer and cause an absolute ruckus to avenge the loss of our funnel, remember to avoid Hull’s women’s FC, and make sure you drink the breakfast water!
