Hello!!!!!!!

I have RUSHED straight to my laptop after going a week with no service or wifi and read through all your manifestos and I’m feeling INSPIRED… I would love to be your Secretary next year.

It is no secret how much I cherish UOLWCC and everything it has given me over the last two years (omg ew how am I going into third year????!). It is also no secret how much I cherish our beloved top dawgs 🫡🤝🏼, India Everett and Kate Clayton, whom I have had the pleasure of working on exec with this year (grammarly has changed it to whom so we are sticking with that, that gives Secretary vibes yeah? x). They have welcomed me with their close friendship and have aided the gaps in my previously novice cricket knowledge - big sorry for all the messages you both received from me over the year. However, thanks to this extensive use of Facebook messenger, I believe I will be able to assist the God that is Club Captain with the running of my favourite club.

This year as Treasurer, I have been in a great position to gain insight into how a successful club should be run and managed to secure us a sizable grant from the Gryphon fund to allow us to bring you all the UOLWCC experiences you have loved. Alongside the brilliant committee, we have achieved our highest numbers yet and I would love to continue this positive trajectory for the club and encourage more to take up the game at university, like me! I know my lack of BUCS level cricket is not a strength of mine, but I truly do love the beginners’ sessions and am committed to continuing to try attaining some form of technique before I leave university (again omg ew how am I going into third year!!!?). 🙏🙏🙏🙏

My, seemingly stronger, qualities for the role may lie in my ability to yap, with communication being a key skill for Secretary. I vouch to continue Kate’s friendly, approachable aura, keeping everyone in the loop with hopes of engaging in many a chat with you all. And whilst I am very happy to talk for England, I am also very keen to speedily type out everything said in committee meetings so finally the forced touch-typing websites I did in my Y5 IT lessons come to some proper use. So what better role for me eh?!

Moreover, the B in LBL stands for Ball.

Having been a thorough enjoyer of the two annual UOLWCC X UOLMCC balls I have been lucky enough to attend, I would love to bring this magical weekend back to life in 2026. This year, I was in the background of helping with some ball arrangements (I was, unfortunately, a strong contender for the leek and potato soup #sorrynotsorry) and despite my ‘emoji-reacting’ role that I took on the ball groupchat, I will be sure to take up ‘actual message writer-and-sender’ this year and maybe even group chat CREATOR. Wow quite a step up. Also, I am quite happy to communicate with the many strange specimens in Men’s Cricket, as litch half of them seem to be on my course so they are inescapable really but we can make the seating plan arrangements in our econ workshops instead of modelling the 2008 financial crisis with the IS-LM-PC graph xxxx

Plus this year I desperately want to win the raffle (Popworld pants have been calling my name for a while now) so hopefully being in charge might help with that - obviously this is a joke.

My love for AM is also a bonus to this job. As one of my best friends thanks to the family of this club, I believe we would make a great team and would lead with the intention to create an atmosphere that fosters the friendship and opportunity that this club has given us. I would also love to have even more of an excuse to talk to THE Alice Miller for hours and hours (beware AMillz you shan’t be rid of me x).

Despite the informality of this manifesto, I promise I take my work very seriously as an innate goody-two-shoes and organisation freak who loves and NEEDS a plan for everything, I hope I can fill the loss of the legend life-giving (literally she is a midwife) Clayto in this role.
