Hey cricket crew!!!!!

As distraught as I am to be nearing the end of my social sec reign (taking back any ‘Nia can’t let go’ comments immediately), I am so unbelievably excited to be putting myself forward for the role of treasurer next year. Lauren London has done such an impeccable job this year, but I’m hoping the amount of time I spend with her means some treasur-y qualities are now instilled in me.

My time on committee has multiplied my love for the club by a million and I’m still beyond grateful you all made the decision to trust me with social sec. I have learnt so much from the role, some of which definitely treasurer relevant. Although on a smaller (and much more alcoholic) scale, me and Roisin have dealt with a fair bit of money this year. My (everyone’s?) fave example: the tour social. Budgeted pretty well, kept track of payment pretty well, chased up unpaid persons pretty well, spent the money too? well… All skills I could 100% draw on as treasurer. Plus, there is the lucky fact socials exist every week, so will be super convenient to just repurpose the social planning slot into budget spreadsheet updating! We also faced the tricky job of trying to sort payment with Raj and i fully believe the skills aquiredacquired there could help when communicating finances with a certain male cricket club. On top of that, I’ve gained a specific and possibly epic skillset to ensure NO MEMBERSHIPS ARE LEFT UNPAID: I’ve developed some authority this year; I’ve got a solid memory for names; and I’m always at socials (determined to not let final year take that away). A fresher takes one step into a social they haven’t paid for? I’ll catch them. Membership paid. Pint downed. Justice restored.

I think it’s also worth touching on the fact I do a maths degree??? Feel this may be the first time I’m talking about it in a positive way, but it’s made me pretty number savvy and treasurer able. I genuinely thrive with numbers and right now I have the pleasure of doing a VERY excel heavy financial maths module, so hopefully should be able to produce some lovely spreadsheets. Also have literally just remembered this but I’m a DISTINCTION MICROSOFT EXCEL SPECIALIST??? Did anyone else do those exams at school, 14 year old me would be sooo happy I’ve finally found a place to mention this lol. So despite the rocky relationship I have with my degree, hope you’re all reassured I’ve got enough number skills to be treasurer.

As well as avoiding bankruptcy, there are a few more things I would love to try do as treasurer. Beginners’ training has been a fantastic addition to my life this year and although my progress has been.. slow (eyes on the ball just doesn’t come naturally), I have honestly loved seeing everyone else improve. I’d love to help budget for some new club kit to allow a furthering of this development. Along the same line, I would love to encourage even more social members to start playing - what better way to be inspired than watching our very own BUCS squad play! I would be so keen to explore the possibility of a subsidised spectator trip to an away game. Furthermore, budgeting with a cricket mindset is certainly not new to me, my own money is spent in a way to ensure ALL cricketing is done properly and I will take this mindset to its limits as treasurer!!





Hope it’s so clear, spending time with UOLWCC is my absolute favourite pastime, and although this year’s role has been very social specific, I have adored getting stuck into all things cricket, be that training, sober socials, charity events or even scoring a match?? (not sure I’ll be repeating that one!). So, no matter which part of the club you love most, I’ll be there as a friendly (and knowledgeable) face to answer any financial queries you may have! I’ve loved getting to know even more of the club this year, and I’m so excited to keep that going, treasurer or not!


Idk if you can tell writing is so not my strong suit (#thrivewithnumberstho), so shall wrap this up. It would be an absolute honour to be on committee again next year. If I could only give a 10/10 to one thing on this Earth it would be UOLWCC- I am SO beyond grateful for all it has given me. It really is a family. I JUST LOVE EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THIS CLUB, genuinely just wanna make you all proud (ew)

Have physically carried this club on my shoulders every mischief, would love to try do this financially lol. Genuinely cannot wait to see you all again at AGM,
