Hi! I’m Navneet, a second year Zoology student! Over the past 2 months, I have worked with the Leeds Students Against Apartheid Coalition where I liaised with external organisations in Leeds and around the UK to support their student encampment. Through my communications, I was able to organise daily meals for the students at camp as well as gather community support for rallies and other events hosted at the encampment. The community I built to support the camp also showed up week after week for the encampment art markets that I organised where almost £4000 was raised for evacuation funds to Palestinian families. As an international student, I think bridging communities is vital in an intersectional movement and the skills and connections that I have built will be useful in the role of External Comms at PSG.

Having visited Palestine in December 2019, I feel strongly connected to Palestine. As seen recently with controversy surrounding the country, and having attended the protests at the student encampment, these have encouraged me to take a stronger stance in support of Palestine. We are the voices of the Palestinian people, and as a communications officer I will ensure quick, effective and reliable communication to organise events which ensure our voices are heard.
