Hi guys, I'm Annie, and am running to be Trip Sec for Wilderness Medicine 25/26. Please check out my poster for all the ideas I have, and why I think I would be a good choice to be your Trip Sec!

If a poster isn't your style, here's a quick summary of why you should vote for me. I absolutely LOVE Wilderness Medicine, and I care a lot about the society, so I will be a committed and enthusiastic individual to have on committee (it's no secret that I am one of the biggest wilderness medicine neeks...). I also adore hiking and getting outside into the Great Outdoors, and I think that my passion for this makes me a good candidate to plan exciting yet accessible trips for the society. Having joined the society this year, I have seen how incredible the trips we have enjoyed this year have been, and how quickly they have become my favourite part of my semester, so I feel very strongly about keeping the trips as cool as they already are, and finding new ways to make them even better!

Again, check out my poster for greater detail (and some silly pics), but here are three things I would strive to make happen for next year's trips:

Number 1: Having more day walks - the area around Leeds is beautiful, and waiting to be explored by Wilderness Medicine, and I don't know about you, but I would love to see the Wilderness Gang more often during the semester!

Number 2: Organise a mini-Wild Trials for the society - for those of you that don't know what that is, it would be a little competition to practice your Wilderness skills, learn more about Wilderness Medicine, and have some fun competing against others in the society. For those of you who are non-medics, DO NOT WORRY, this will be an event accessible to everyone and having little medical knowledge is not a problem - there is more to Wilderness Medicine than simply the facts...

Number 3: Getting feedback from you guys regularly - to me it is essential that the trips reflect what the whole society would like to do, so I will make sure to involve everyone in the planning process, and get some feedback from everyone after every trip to make sure that the next trip can be even better!

I hope that you will consider voting for me to be your 25/26 Trip Sec, and I hope I have proven to you that my love for Wilderness Medicine is unwavering and I will be a safe pair of hands to keep building bigger and better things for the society next year!

I am currently intercalating at the University of Exeter completing an MSc in Extreme Medicine with World Extreme Medicine. I will be returning to 4th year Medicine at the University of Leeds in September and I cannot wait to join you all again!
I desire to combine my extreme medicine expertise with hands-on teaching to help our society thrive in breaking the boundaries of what is possible in medical advances.
I have personally honed my skills and sought opportunities from the Wilderness Medicine society and my goal is to give back and inspire students with realistic training, expert talks and expedition-ready skills to be both excited and inspired by extreme medicine.
Collaboration with other University Wilderness societies and increased sharing in knowledge and experience is the main area I would wish to expand as I firmly believe that shared knowledge is crucial to pushing boundaries and achieving both personal and shared goals.
In addition, I would promote collaboration with other similar societies as their knowledge would be beneficial in skills such as rope work and navigation.
