Hello! I’m India and I’m running for the role of secretary and general committee.
I’m a friendly face that you probably recognise as a casualty, both as a fake patient and as a real one as I’m unfortunately not very good at staying upright.
I’d love another chance to be on committee this next year. I’m passionate about wilderness medicine (2 Northern trials, a wild trials, a conference in Newcastle, lots of involvement with the society) and I’m really keen to share all that I’ve learnt from this! I’ll be 4th year next year which although might mean I’m a little busy, I’ll have an extra year of experience under my belt!
I’m always happy to help with whatever job needs doing and I love writing scenarios and teaching. I think wilderness med is a perfect example of how fun medicine can be (even if it doesn’t feel like it after a week of pre-dawn placement starts!!).
I’d be really grateful if you’d vote for me to be your secretary and also to be on general committee (if by some magic I get both, I’ll take the secretary role which will open up another spot on gen com!)

Hiya I’m Anna, and I would love to be on general committee for Wilderness medicine. I am definitely committed to this club, having attended every event organised, and am really looking forward to doing more next year.
I have loved getting to know everyone in this club, and, through the teaching, have become very interested in emergency medicine as a speciality. I would truly value the opportunity to contribute to the society.
If I am elected, some things I plan to add include:
- More teaching sessions on emergency skills, which would include formal sit down sessions as-well as scenarios
- More communication between committee and members e.g. advance info about socials
- More day hikes
- Explore going to campsites/wild camping as an alternative to bunkhouses
- Try organise more expedition medicine talks

Hey guys!!! I’m Mollie and I would love to be part of the general committee!
Since joining the society in September, it has quickly become one of my favourite parts of University. I have met so many amazing people, learned new skills and above all, had fun doing it!

Next year I would love to be involved in the organisation of the society, including arranging more day hikes, teaching sessions and collaborative events with other societies / universities. I’d also like help with the fresher events and promoting our top-notch society, as I know how valuable I found this when I first joined. I’m sure I can be a friendly face for all newbies (and oldies of course!)

Overall, I’m very passionate about our society, and would love to get stuck in behind the scenes to ensure every event runs smoothly. I work well in a team and value everyone’s feedback, making sure that suggestions are taken on board to continually improve our society. As an added bonus, I promise to deliver more quality bakes in the future! 😋

Hello Wildlings!

Like many of us I’ve loved joining Wilderness Medicine Society and would be honoured to be part of the committee next year. If I was elected I would want to focus on speeding up communication to members about events and socials to give more advanced notice. Another aim of mine is to include wilderness mental health scenario training, which I know can come up at Wild Trials. Both my parents are Mental Health Social Workers with lots of experience managing mental health crises before an ambulance arrives so I’d like to set up a teaching session with them on de-escalation and handover.

I pride myself on my ability to stay positive in rainy, miserable environments. I used to run Dungeons and Dragons sessions for my friends so I have relevant improvisation and scenario planning experience. I love being in the kitchen and would be honoured to bring Chinese cuisine to the weekends away. I have also been told I have excellent cheese-cutting skills. Commitment would not be a problem for me as 90% of socials are already hosted at my house so I couldn’t escape if I tried.

This year has been such a great experience with Wilderness Medicine, and it’s definitely been one of the highlights of my time so far. The trips, teaching sessions, and socials have all been great fun and a lovely opportunity to meet people and I’d love the chance to help plan some of these events for next year.
I would be especially interested in developing kit for the society like new tracksuit bottoms, t-shirt or fleeces and organising some more events outside of the trip. I think both could be great ways to strengthen sense of belonging in the society and increase its visibility.

Hi everyone! Just in case you haven't met me, I'm Molly, and I'm running for general committee. I joined wilderness medicine at the start of the year and I've absolutely loved it so far, including all the day hikes and the weekends away, the socials and all the lovely people I've met, and so I would love the chance to get even more involved by joining committee for the coming year.

I've learned so much about expedition medicine through the wonderful teaching sessions that this year's committee have put together and delivered. I would love to get involved with the organisation of the society and I would be interested in trying to arrange more day hikes and particularly more teaching sessions covering a variety of scenarios to further everybody's knowledge and skills.

I'm very organised and definitely passionate about our society, and I consider myself to be a reliable member of any team. If elected, I would put these skills to use in helping to plan and run exciting events and trips, to communicate information from committee to members in good time and to utilize any feedback from you guys about what you enjoy/want more of and so on.

Hi everyone, I am Annie, and I am running for the role of General Committee this year!

For those of you who may not know me so well, I absolutely LOVE Wilderness Medicine. I love the people. I love the muddy, rainy, sunny, snowy and gnarly hikes. I love the medicine (it is no secret that I am a huge Wilderness neek).

Having only joined the society this year, it has quickly become my favourite part of uni, and I would be honoured to represent the society as a committee member this coming year.

I like to think that I am an approachable, enthusiastic, dedicated and organised individual, and I think that my skillset will be a benefit to next year's committee. I have previous experience running societies having been Secretary for Rugby League and Publicity Rep for SFGH Leeds, so I understand well what is required to run a society, I have a good knowledge of how to complete the admin needed, and know how to create beautiful socials posts to boost the society's presence!

If I were to be elected onto Committee, here are three things I would strive to make happen:

Number 1: Day Walks - I think Leeds has great potential for some epic day walks, and I'd love for the Wilderness Medicine Gang to get together more often to explore these!

Number 2: Feedback - I think that Wilderness Medicine is the greatest society of all time, but it is always important to see what everyone else thinks - I would strive to gain regular feedback from you guys about what your thoughts are and what you would like to see from the society, as well as make sure that there is a formal way to voice any worries or issues that you may be facing.

Number 3: a fun and exciting way to practice our Wilderness Medicine skills - a mini-Wild Trials! Non-medics do not worry, this will be accessible for everyone, and quite frankly medical knowledge is not the only aspect of Wilderness Medicine...

To conclude, I really hope that you will consider voting for me to be one of your General Committee members. I think this society is the best thing ever, and I would love to be a part of the team that makes sure that it stays that way, and continues to get better and better every year!

I am currently intercalating at the University of Exeter completing an MSc in Extreme Medicine with World Extreme Medicine. I will be returning to 4th year Medicine at the University of Leeds in September and I cannot wait to join you all again!
I desire to combine my extreme medicine expertise with hands-on teaching to help our society thrive in breaking the boundaries of what is possible in medical advances.
I have personally honed my skills and sought opportunities from the Wilderness Medicine society and my goal is to give back and inspire students with realistic training, expert talks and expedition-ready skills to be both excited and inspired by extreme medicine.
Collaboration with other University Wilderness societies and increased sharing in knowledge and experience is the main area I would wish to expand as I firmly believe that shared knowledge is crucial to pushing boundaries and achieving both personal and shared goals.
In addition, I would promote collaboration with other similar societies as their knowledge would be beneficial in skills such as rope work and navigation.

Hey, I’m LucyAnna and I’m a second year medic ☺️.
From being Anna-Maria’s flatmate last year and hearing all the wilderness med shenanigans at wild trials and weekends away I had to try it out for myself this year and have loved being a part of the society. It’s been like having more than 5 other housemates because of the wilderness socials and teaching sessions that I’d return to every week at our house after my netball games etc!!
I’d really love to be a part of committee next year because I love this society and the people in it so much (I tell everyone I know about it all the time) and want to be even more involved in said shenanigans next year and am already looking forward to the socials & weekends away in 2025/26 🥰. I promise to keep providing my speaker at the socials to play the much-loved wilderness playlists created by myself and maha 🎵🎵.
Apart from loving the scenarios and shenanigans on the trips away, I also love seeing animals out on the fields 🐴🐑🐮🐐and hope to see lots of those next year too as well as lots of new faces in the society itself.
One of my specific aims if I made committee is to try and bring in some new faces who aren’t medics to the society- because as lovely as it is having so many medics, Benji is very outnumbered on committee and the society itself has only a handful of non-medics, and I think it’s brilliant to bring some non-medics as it is a society open to all to learn these skills and makes it more interesting to meet new people doing different things at uni!!

I am going into the final year of medicine next year and I would love to really get stuck into the society in my final year.
I have loved being part of Wilderness Medicine for the last 4 Years and it has given me so many amazing memories.

I am experienced in the running of this society and would be happy to crack on with the paper work side of things.
I have experience in running trips for the society and know how much work goes into these and have competed in the Northern Wild Trials.

Hello, I'm Fin, and I think its pretty obvious by the picture, I'm that human torch you may have encountered.

Next year will be my 3rd year doing wilderness medicine, and I think that I feel ready to give back to the society that's given me so many great moments and memories; by helping out with organisng weekends away, events etc. I especially would love to get involved with teaching, and think I can add some interesting nerdy (but fun!) nunaces to complement what's already being taught.
Having previous experience on other soceity commitees such as Medic basketball and PERKS I think Ill settle into my responsibilities quickly. I'm confident I can contribute meaningfully and help our society to continue to grow and thrive.
