Hello Wildlings, I’m Ruby and I’m really excited to be running to be your next President!

I’ve been an active Wildling for many years now - first as a member, then joining the general committee, and this year acting as your secretary (and sometimes as a dramatic sim patient)! I always look forward to a Wilderness event as I know I’ll learn so much alongside the loveliest bunch of people, and I want to make sure every member continues to get as much out of the society as I have.

One of the things I love most about this society is our scenario-based teaching. I’ve found this is the best way I learn our essential wilderness med skills and so I want to continue expanding on this next year for our members, including training evenings with all of our exciting new kit. I’ll make sure we also keep building on what we’ve achieved this year, so there’ll definitely be some more crazy mass casualties on our weekends away as well!

Having competed in two Northern Trials and two National Wild Trials, I know firsthand how valuable these experiences are. I was incredibly proud to be part of the winning team at both this year, and I can’t wait to train more of you up for next year’s competitions! If elected, I will volunteer us to host Northern Trials 2026 - an amazing opportunity to showcase our incredible society, learn from others and throw an event to remember (oh, and also get us all some points on our CVs)!

As Secretary, I’ve helped organise kit, coordinate our plans and lead competition training, so I've developed a pretty good grasp of how the society runs. As President, I’d bring the same enthusiasm, organisation, and commitment, while ensuring everyone on committee feels supported and able to do their best in their roles. I’ll keep things running smoothly so we can focus on what we do best - learning, adventuring, and having a fantastic time together!

Hi, I’m Georgia – a current 4th year and long-time Wilderness member. If you don’t recognise the name, I’m the one puffing along at the back of the group, half-asleep, or taking my 1000th photo of the pretty hills.

Wilderness has been one of the best parts of my time at uni – from Dales adventures to wholesome socials, to soggy weekend aways and snowy mountain rescue weekends, and most recently, the amazing Wild Trials (1st Place Team!!!).

I’ve been on committee for two years, so I know the ropes – and while my degree might be a mess, my society organisation skills are always on point. I’m great at keeping on top of the inbox, chairing meetings, chasing people, booking bunkhouses before they vanish, submitting funding applications, and bringing joy to every single event. And do not worry about those compliance docs they will be done in a flash.

If elected President, I’d love to organise more day walks, get us back to the mountain rescue base (because nothing bonds people like stretcher-carrying in the rain or snow), get some brilliant speakers in, and run an unforgettable Northern Trials – with lots of training for our newer members so they’re ready to smash it.

Wilderness is the most welcoming, chaotic, and wholesome society there is – and I’d love to help steer it through another year of success.
