Hi! I’m Erin and I would love to be your next netball sports sec 💕💕

Most of the things you need to know can be found on my candidate poster (where you’ll see I am allergic to capital letters!! sorry!!) but here’s a summary of my main points… plus a few extras.

My manifesto:
• I aim to bring our netball girlies up to division one by semester two!
• Have consistant weekly training sessions, to which I will plan based on our weaknesses in the previous match.
• Celebrate our hard work with weekly/bi-weekly social events like RPP karaoke and the otley run!!
• I promise to send many cat pics to boost morale 🐈🐈‍⬛ and always be there to support our players when needed.

Hi, I'm Daveena Badyal, I'm in my first year of studying English Literature and I want to your next sport secretary!

Since joining university in September, the English Netball team has played a massive part in helping me feel settled and excited to study here.
- It’s not only allowed me to play the sport that I love, but it’s helped me to make friends with an amazing group of people over the last year.
- It was an amazing way of overcoming the initial anxiety that I felt as a fresher, and truly did make all the difference in helping me feel happy and comfortable in a new city away from home.

I want to be the sports secretary for the team next year because I would love to be able to help others feel this way.
- I want to continue to cultivate this type of supportive and welcoming environment for both students returning to the team and those who are looking to get involved for the first time.
- In this position, I would actively make sure that everyone felt included during the training sessions and socials, as well as focusing on our performance in the matches themselves.
- I would ensure that the team continues to have the type of secure, family-like dynamic that it currently does because for me, that was the main appeal of joining the social league to begin with.

I think that I would be a particularly good fit for this role because of my unique perspective as a first-year student.
- I know exactly how it feels to be an ‘outsider’ or someone who is new to a society because it was the position that was in myself, only a few months ago.
- This means that I also know exactly the types of things that work to help new members feel engaged and comfortable in a new society – because they are the types of things which helped me feel engaged and comfortable when I first joined.
- I would allow this to inform the way that I do things such as planning socials and creating an environment which encourages everyone to feel confident and get as involved as possible.
