Hi, I'm Evie! I am currently in my first year studying English Literature with Creative Writing, and have really enjoyed being a member of English Society this year! I would love to be your 2024-25 trip secretary!

My main aims as trip secretary would be to organise a variety of trips within Leeds and beyond! I would work closely with the social secretaries and the treasurer of the society (as well as the rest of the committee!) to ensure that there are opportunities for everyone in the society to attend a trip, inclusive of various interests and budgets!
Listed on my candidate poster are just a few of the ideas I've had about potential trips for English Society! As well as English Society trips, I would also love to collaborate with other societies! For example, I think a great opportunity would be a joint trip to see the Northern Ballet's production of Jane Eyre at Leeds Grand Theatre in 2025 with the Ballet Society, and this is something I would definitely love to put into action!
I would also love to get English Society down to London to see a play at the Globe, as well as day trips to historic/heritage sites similar to this year's trip to Chatsworth!

Another thing that I would really, really love to organise for the English Society is a residential abroad... engsoc on tour!!! I think this would be a great opportunity for the English Society, and would be sure to work with the rest of the committee, as well as members of the society, to ensure that the location of the residential has something for everyone who would be interested in attending (ie (English related!) day-trips and sober socials as well as drinking/going out activities for those interested). I would work closely with the social secretaries to ensure that engsoc tour was fun and inclusive for everyone taking part!

As much as I've already had some ideas, I really want the society to be as inclusive and enjoyable for all members as possible, and therefore would be more than willing to hold votes to find out which trips members of the society would rather attend so that planning certain trips can be prioritised, or new ideas can be suggested! 3
