My name is Katherine, and I am soon to be entering my third year of studying English Literature at Leeds. If there’s one thing you need to know about me, it is that I am very chatty and always down for a good time! I have been a member of the English society since starting second year and have regularly attended netball training sessions and English socials, and it’s safe to say I have loved every minute of it! I am also a big fat swimmer! BOOOO! However, following the many many many nights of chaos that I have experienced at swimming socials and on tour I feel I am a great fit to help bring some of this fun and a little bit of the chaos into the English society next year!! Vote for me for another fab year in ENGSOC!

Afternoon folks. I’m Travis, and I am running for a Social Secretary role for the coming year.
In a practical sense, I am able to dedicate the time to making sure the social side of English Society is run properly and in the best interests of our attendees. I’d like to keep up the excellent work that Eszther and Emilie did in 23/24, and perhaps incorporate some more writing-based socials, too. I am a big believer in the open mic nights and the way in which they push creativity and bring us all together in a relaxed environment. I would ensure that these were put on once a semester. Also, I think that we also ought to advertise our social events at the start of our lectures, particularly to those starting afresh in first year. This would increase our appeal and diversity.
In short, I know that the core committee will continue to do an excellent job in making the cogs of this society turn, as they have done this past academic year. Above all else, I am running for this role because I want to contribute to the society by creating a social space that helps us meet like-minded people and gives us a break from the humdrum of university life.

I'm Megan, currently a first year English Literature Student! I have really enjoyed being a member of English Soc this year and am excited to hopefully take on the role of social sec alongside my good friend Christian. Together we have been brainstorming many exciting ideas for throughout the year - involving both drinking and sober socials! English Society is a great way to make friends so we would love to be able provide a friendly but also fun space to meet new people on your course - much like we have done this year.
