Hello, World! I’m Oly, a second year computer science student. I’ve been an active member of CompSoc since I joined the university and I’ve undoubtedly seen improvements - but I think we need some fresh faces and fresh ideas in the core committee for the society to continue developing. Being Vice President requires a delicate set of skills - I’d assist the president and other committee members in planning a wider range of events, building industry connections and implementing progressive initiatives, with the aim to bring the views of society members into the decision making process. I want everyone to feel like they have a direct say in how the society is run all year round, not just during elections, and I’d create spaces for you to give suggestions and feedback both online and in-person.

I’ve been social secretary of LUU Hiking Club this year which has given me practical experience organising trips across the UK, something CompSoc hasn’t managed to do since I’ve been a member. I’d be open to suggestions but I’d love to run a trip to Bletchley Park and a casual hike. I’d also increase communications around projects and employment opportunities - we’re a group of top students in an exciting field and I think this can really be utilised by engaging more with industry and creating a GitHub organisation of cool projects we’re working on so we can find people who share our interests, collaborate, and advertise what our members do.

I'm Jacob, the current president of the CompSoc. This year, I'm running for vice president. In this role, I will continue to provide strong leadership to the society, keep pushing the identity I have built over the last year, and promise to deliver even more incredible events.

With me as president, I have increased the society's membership 6x, reinvented our brand, built connections with the school and delivered events including the Fridge to Fridges, Pub Quizzes and industry events.
