Hi! My name is Evan and I'm running to be CompSoc Academic Events officer for 2024/25. CompSoc is going in the right direction with loads of great socials last year, but I've decided that too much fun is going on and we need some more academic events!! My main ideas are:

1. A university hackathon! A 48 hour challenge where teams compete to create the best product/tool/thing based on a specific theme
2. Interesting technical talks and Q&As with industry and research groups!
3. Expand opportunities for Computing students at Leeds through networking

There hasn't really been any academic events offered by CompSoc since I joined last year which I think is a missed opportunity.
