I have been CompSoc's one and only Social Media Secretary for the past year and have helped grow CompSoc outreach to more of the Computer Science cohort. I have worked closely within the committee to bring great events, promote them, and then edit & post photos from our events to help build our community in the School of Computing.
I have built connections to popular club nights such as Indie Thursdays, Boogaloo, and Cut the Mustard and I hope to improve this if I get re-elected.
Moving from the Social Media Sec role to the new Branding Sec role I hope to build a better community for all members and use my knowledge and guidance in my past role to further propel CompSoc as an amazing society.

Hey everyone! My name is Paige, I’m a 2nd year Computer Science student, and I’m running for Branding Secretary in the CompSoc elections. I’ve been a CompSoc member for 2 years and have seen a drastic improvement in the events this past year, and I’d like to bring a member’s point of view to the committee to build on these improvements.

I understand the importance of branding for the society; making CompSoc well-regarded within the university community and improving its reputation makes it more likely that top employers will interact with our events, thus improving networking opportunities.

So, what qualifies me to be Branding Sec?
- Created professional assets for companies such as business cards, website banners, and adverts; using Canva, Figma and Photoshop tools
- Took on the role of UI designer within my group software project (yes, I volunteered to do CSS)
- Volunteered with charities to organise events, such as charity football matches and evening galas - on very limited budgets
- Attended many CompSoc events (came 3rd at casino night!); having seen the work the committee does, I have a good idea of what the role entails

What would I do as Branding Sec?
- Establish a reputable brand for CompSoc, not just by bringing consistency to CompSoc’s physical branding, but also building the reputation of the society by increasing connections with employers
- Increase participation – I’d open up avenues for more member suggestions and feedback. E.g. Do we like the logo? What society merch do we want? What events would we like to see?
- Improve the CompSoc website (remember my love for CSS)

By building connections with employers, other societies and even within CompSoc itself, I believe we will be able to create some great opportunities for building a community that is resourceful, reliable, and inclusive.
