Hey everyone! My name is Chiara and I’ll be starting 4th year of medical school in September at Leeds, and I’m running to be Dance Assistant! After an amazing time at LAMMPs last year, I moved to London to complete an intercalated degree in Anatomy at King’s College London, where I also danced with KCL Dance Society. Being part of a different dance society opened my eyes to many different choreography teaching methods, dance styles and performance techniques! I took this year as an opportunity to take part in as many dance styles as I could, namely: Hip-Hop, Reggaeton, Jazz, Commercial, Ballet, Latin dance, Salsa and Contemporary! Partaking and performing in different dance styles every week reminded me how fun and varied dancing really is! I am super excited to bring all the tips, tricks and performance styles I have learnt into my role as Dance Assistant at LAMMPS.

My dance training began when I was just 3 years old, taking ballet exams with RAD from primary to intermediate, learning tap, modern and contemporary with ISTD, and performing in yearly shows. I also had the privilege of being selected to dance in the Danceworks Performing Group, where we organised and performed weekly shows for elderly care homes, hospices, and in Leeds city centre every year to raise money for St Gemma’s Hospice and the Down’s Syndrome Charity- Sunshine and Smiles.

Although I was only in LAMMPS for a year before moving to London, I had the amazing opportunity to choreograph a duet to Livin’ La Vida Loca with my fellow LAMMPS dance member Immy for the first ever LAMMPS Cabaret. Our duet received a standing ovation and was subsequently performed in the dance show from popular request. In my dance school before university, I also choreographed solos, duets and group performances for our yearly shows, which expanded my experience in choreography, dance technique and creativity.

Outside of dance, my experience as a personal tutor to students with learning and attention difficulties has equipped me with the skills to communicate effectively and tailor engaging lessons to people of all ages, abilities and experience. This is a core value of mine which I will continue to uphold through my teaching style as dance assistant.

My love for dance has grown with me through the years. It started as my main outlet for stress relief, but as I learned more techniques I also began to love it as a creative form of exercise! I have always seen dance as a way to forget life’s stress (which as uni students, is definitely a huge factor for us!), have fun performing and building friendships with others while also challenging myself to improve my technique. I would love to expand the repertoire of dance styles within the LAMMPS dance strand, incorporating commercial, hip hop and Latin influences with musical theatre dancing, to ensure there is something everyone will enjoy and want to get involved in! As Dance Assistant, I am passionate to create a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can grow in their confidence as dancers regardless of their starting experience. I also want to unify and strengthen the LAMMPS community, to create an uplifting environment of teamwork and support both within the dance strand and with the other two amazing choir and show strands.

I truly believe that my skills and experience align with the responsibilities of this role, and I can’t wait to dance with you all soon!

I would love to be dance assistant and hope I would be an asset to the team. I am a good team player so would work well with the dance lead and secretary and I have lots of great ideas I would be so grateful to use. I have danced since I was 3 yrs old in tap, ballet, modern and jazz and I have also taught younger dancers. Lammps is genuinely the highlight of my week and I would enjoy being able to share my passion with others.

Hi everyone, I’m Charlotte and I would love it if you voted for me to be dance assistant!

I have loved being part of LAMMPS this year, particularly performing in Intercomp, Cabaret and Showcase with the dance strand, as well as performing in the Christmas concert with choir (if you saw it, I was the one who unintentionally had the matching hair and Christmas jumper). Next year, I am looking forward to auditioning for the Little Mermaid and endeavouring to attend all strands!

I would love to be dance assistant, as I have been an assistant dance teacher for five years at home, and would really enjoy the opportunity to pick this up again. I have experience choreographing for dance shows at the theatre, and this will come in handy as there are many routines throughout the year for LAMMPS Dance! I have experience in a multitude of styles (I’ve even done Irish since starting uni!) and I would like to bring this versatility to the role.

Finally, I started LAMMPS this year as a first year dentist, not knowing anybody, and I have finished the year knowing so many great people. I have loved dancing with the Dance strand members this year, and would be grateful to have the opportunity to support one of my new LAMMPS friend in their role as Dance Lead, and use my skills and experiences to help LAMMPS Dance members next year, both existing and new, to enjoy it just as much as I have done this year.
