Hi, my name is Abdur Rahman but most people know me by my surname, Barry. I have just completed my second year at Leeds studying Mechanical Engineering. I was a part of PakSoc committee last year and obtained the role of Male Sports Representative. This academic year, I have decided to nominate myself for the position of Secretary.


Why I Want to Run for Secretary:
Being on committee this year has enabled me to closely observe and grasp the core functionalities and concepts which contribute to the overfull success of this society. Thus, I believe I embody the key skillset required specifically pertaining to this role, in relation to both the administration side of things, alongside the aptitudes of working in a team, which in turn will aid in achieving the committees’ ultimate goals.

What I Can Bring to the Society:
My past extra-curricular and work experience has allowed for me to build on the relevant skills which will be required of this role, whether it be being methodical, well organized and innovative. Having now received an insight of committee , I have compiled a list of ideas which can further improve the committees overall functionality, and if elected I will be able to efficiently communicate them to the respected individuals for their effective implementation.


As exemplified previously, I am a driven and motivated individual who will strive to do their best for the committee, while ensuring that the technicalities and organisation will not attribute to any hinderance of the societies projects. I hope to play my part in making things run smoothly and working closely as a team with the new committee in order to make the next year a success for this society!
