Dear Members of the Sustainability Society,

I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for the position of President of our esteemed society. Having been an active member and witnessing firsthand the positive impact our society has had on our community, I am eager to contribute further to its growth and success.

As President, I am committed to fostering an inclusive and vibrant environment where every member feels valued and supported. I believe in the power of collaboration and aim to create opportunities for members to connect, socialize, and form lasting friendships. Our fortnightly socials, faculty sports teams, and engaging trips will serve as avenues for us to come together, share ideas, and inspire one another.

Moreover, I am passionate about leveraging our position within the Faculty and the University to make a tangible difference in our community. I envision our society as a bridge connecting students with companies and local charities, providing valuable volunteering and networking opportunities that enrich both personal and professional growth. By forging strong partnerships and cultivating a sense of collective responsibility, we can truly make a meaningful impact on the world around us.

Furthermore, I am deeply committed to amplifying student voices through our Student Journal, "Discovering Sustainability." I believe in the power of storytelling to raise awareness and spark conversations about pressing environmental and social issues. Hi I'm Charlotte, a third year geology student. I think that I would be suitable for president because having run for secretary this academic year, I have developed key leadership and teamwork skills required for the role. If I was to run for president I would run fort-nightly socials and workshops focussing on different aspects of sustainability. I'd also have a focus on volunteering and career development, allowing society members to engage both through their academic journey, focussing on their future but also fun socials to break away from your studies and enjoy uni life with other society members.

I have vast levels of leadership experience including being a residence life assistant which involved running and planning events for students in halls. I've been an active member of the committee in Sussoc since it's launch in 2022 - I feel that I have the knowledge and experience to take this society to the next level.
