Why do I want to join the committee?

Having been vice president for the past year, my love for this society and the people in it has grown immensely, from joining as a fresher till now, my passion for LUU Street grows everyday. My experience as vice would ensure a smooth transition to being pres, I want to continue giving my all to this society, and by staying on committee I feel I can really give my best. From day one of freshers I joined LUU street and never looked back. I want to finish my final year with this amazing society with a bang, from beginning to end 3

What would I personally bring to LUU Street as Pres?

I want to first challenge myself, stepping up to be president would be big, but it’s a step I'm willing to take! I adore leading classes, rehearsals and encouraging all the dancers around me, not just as a committee member but as a friend, so my main approach to the role is first to create the most welcoming atmosphere, especially in open classes and beginner courses to encourage people of all skill levels to enjoy the society for what it is! I will talk to as many people as possible, enthusiastically help anyone who approaches me with questions or concerns and take action when serious issues arise.

I will encourage individuality whilst also creating a close-knit bond across the whole society, we can all grow individually as well as together, my aim is to bond with as many members as possible to help me to understand everyone, casual and comp members alike :)

My approach to guiding the committee will be respectful and friendly, we work and strive as a collective, where no hierarchy is created, all roles are as important as the next. I will help if anyone needs support in their role, and guide them through any issues we face, no one works alone under my watch!!!!!!!!!

I want the opportunity to use my knowledge and training in a range of street styles and my experience with a vast number of creatives to help in training and creating unique, powerful, and VICTORIOUS routines! There is nothing I love more than dancing and creating alone and in collaboration with others, being president gives me the opportunity to not only share my own ideas and creations, but also to learn from and collaborate with all the talented people I will work and train alongside; I won't view President as a position of hierarchy but a position of opportunity :)

I therefore want to give other society members an opportunity to showcase their choreography! With more student led open classes, a possible recreational performance team created purely by students and even comp routines we create ourselves! The possibilities are endless when you are surrounded by so many insanely talented people.

Hi everyone ! I’m Jove and I am running to be your president for the 25/26 academic year. I am currently in my 3rd year, and would love to give back to this incredible society, which has given me so much.

I have missed LUUStreet immensely this year, and seeing the achievements of this year’s committee and the amazing competition teams has motivated me to put myself forward for next year’s committee, in hopes that I can contribute to the legacy they have carried forward.

Admittedly, I know that I’m at a #slight (LOL) disadvantage since a number (almost all) of you don’t know me. But I hope my statement and poster have given you an idea of who I am and what I aim to bring to LUUStreet as your prezzie if elected. I would really appreciate your vote !!

HEYYYYYYY YALLLLL, it’s Hao and you might know me as your sweet Secretary in the 2024/25 committee (you probably have seen me at all of the open classes, socials and competition teams ^^) Over the past 2 years, this society has allowed me to embrace the most iconic and memorable experiences ever, and I would love the chance to make the LUU Street Dance experience even better for 2025/26.

I believe that my experience of the ins and outs of this society plus my background in dance (from teaching classes to leading performances) makes me an ideal candidate for this position. Having been on the committee this year, I’ve gained insights into how to effectively run a society at LUU, and in the past 2 years that I have been involved with LUU Street, I’ve learned the general structure and organisation of the community, ensuring that the society runs smoothly so that our amazing Street members can have the best possible experience with dance at LUU.

Of course, going into this, I have a “2025/26 LUU STREET VISION” for yall so that every single one of us is ensured the best experiences ever!

(1) Carry on Street’s traditions and create good vibes for all Street members to be comfortable to express themselves through dance.

(2) Create more opportunities for members to be involved with Street Dance, (e.g. workshops, additional Street teams, introducing more diverse dance styles), in addition to all of our classic, collaborations with other dance societies!

(3) Lead our dance comp teams to even more success in future competitions. I hope to support the teams for more outstanding results next year with skills I’ve gained over my competing years such as creating routines, leading training, and ensuring everyone feels empowered to SLAY EVERY COMPETITION!!!

(4) Build a more inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone at LUU Street, no matter your experience. LUU STREET is well known for bringing that family vibe, and, of course, I want to make a community where everyone is comfortable.

LUU Street is where I found my traces back to dance after quitting it for a few years, so both this society and dance mean so much to me. I absolutely adore everyone that I have met through this society and I would be extremely grateful for the chance to give back to this community that has allowed me to grow through so many different aspects.
