Events Coordinator (Academic)

Hi everyone! My name is Ishita Kashyap, and I am from India and Saudi Arabia. I wish to be the next Academic Events Coordinator as I want to deliver my passion for economics in fun and exciting ways to others. Listed below are some of my ideas for next year for the society to involve more with academic events. 1. Economic debates x debate society. Topics such as Brexit, mergers and takeovers, and oil crises have always been controversial! Inviting students to participate in such economic discussions will enhance their presentation, negotiation and speaking skills. 2. Regular or weekly commercial awareness Kahoot or Quiz for the cohort, Leeds economics students should stay updated on the news! 3. Regular lunch with economics, we can potentially start a podcast! As I outline below, my work experience and background have fostered many competencies I consider imperative for this role. 1. I have organised virtual as well on-campus events during my high school. For instance, I led IB Gala night for the seniors and Habitat for Humanity online talent show, which was a huge success that included over 200 attendees. 2. Before the Pandemic, I was part of the Unicef organisation, where my role was to make posters and tickets for the Girls Gala charity event. 3. Furthermore, I was part of the student council, where I was in a team that organised various events such as Prom, leavers ceremony, Arts festival etc. With the mentioned experiences as an effective communicator and an out-going student with new hopes and aims, I hope you will find me well qualified as your next Academic event coordinator.
