My name is Nicholas, and I am a 1st Year Economics and Finance Student. As President I was this society to thrive, in improving employability for all members and making friends at great social events! I'm Matty, a first year Economics student, and I'm running for Economics Society President. With previous experience of organisation and co-ordinating committees as Head Boy of my school, I feel my leadership qualities make me a prime candidate for the role. My strong relationships with students and staff provide me with a solid platform on which to build academic and professional development opportunities. I understand how invaluable such opportunities are in developing employability prospects and enhancing academic performance. I intend to secure knowledgable speakers, build on current relationships with employers, and ensure information is provided on exciting upcoming opportunities. On the social side of things, I'm always happy to meet new people and hear their views on important topics - a crucial requisite for me fully investing myself into the role. I'm an advocate for a range of inclusive social events, from coffee mornings and economics QandAs to nights out at Bobby's and Otley Runs. Hearing the views of other members on the importance of the EconSoc ball in the social calendar, I am committed to ensuring it's the highlight of economics calendar. With a keen interest and participation in a range of sports, improving and expanding male and female sport teams is a priority of mine. I have the intention of expanding the football team into including an 11-a-side team, whilst guaranteeing the current 5-a-side team continues in its current format. I would also look to create an economics sport team for girls, encouraging those of all abilities to get involved. No competive pressure, just a relaxing social and sporting environment for everyone.

HI! My name is Robert, and I am a Second-year BSc Economics student – Incoming Summer Analyst at Bank of America, a Bulge Bracket Bank – Well-rounded individual with an international perspective. My vision: continue and improve the most popular events hosted by the Econ society, such as: - Bobby’s and Otley runs - The Economics Ball - Lunch with the Economist Increase collaboration with LUUTIS and LUBS Society in both professional and social events. Encourage members’ contribution to the direction the society should take. Consistently seek feedback on possible improvements and suggestions from members and the committee. Establish the Economics Society as a place for professional and personal development for existing and new members alike. Increase the number of in-person events to foster a sense of belonging and create a more inclusive environment. Utilise my existing knowledge and connections gained throughout my 2 years at University to make the overall experience of the society as satisfactory as possible.
