Hey guys,
My name is Harpreet and despite being a relatively new member of ballet (I knew I always wanted to dance but always thought it was too late or that I would be too busy!). But having taken the plunge last year, I absolutely loveee and have a passion for ballet and wish I got involved with the society much earlier!!
I want this role as it would be really fun to get more involved with the society. I am guilty of buying a tonne of ballet dancewear and I enjoy being creative (see my snazzy poster ;)) when thinking of costume ideas that fit the theme/music, and think they are so important in the polished final piece!
In terms of merch, I am also guilty of buying a lot of merch for a tonne of societies (you will see me in a krav maga hoodie even if I only went once lol eh hem..) so already have so many ideas for what next years merch can look like. I think merch holds such special memories for us all once graduated so would love to make sure it all looks fabulous!!
I am a good fit for the role as I love being savvy whilst finding sustainable and chic clothes, which could involve working closely with other societies to source costumes but adding our own ballet twists and extras! Being a medical student and a dog mum, I have had 4 years getting my organisation and time management skills down to the T and love working under pressure, so will be able to work well juggling responsibilities and communicating with both the teachers, external merchandise companies and fellow ballet society members. As I don't have a traditional dance background I believe it would make a huge difference having me on committee to inspire beginners or people who have been nervous to try the society! A move towards more inclusive societies is encouraged by our uni and having a diverse committee, both dance and background wise, would show the progress to encourage people to join our community :)
I know most of the beginners well and would love to get to know the other classes, so I can create merchandise that you guys want, alongside the other committee members even though a lot of iconic committee members are graduating this year :( but lets work together to keep ballet soc as one of the most inclusive and fun societies! (not to mention best dressed ;)) xx
P.S. My dog will 100% act as a ballet rep!!

Hey, I’m Emily and I would absolutely love to be costume and merch sec for ballet next year. I’ll be going into my fourth year as part of ballet society, and it has been such a highlight. I would love the opportunity to get more involved and get us kitted out in some stunning merch and costumes. This year I’ve taken part in Sunday technique and pointe classes as well as the show team, and honestly the more ballet and less degree I can do the better.


One of my favourite aspects of ballet is getting to perform on stage, especially after the last couple of years we’ve had. Other than the amazing choreography from our teachers and all of your stunning technique, one of the most important things for a performance is the costume! I want to make sure everyone feels comfortable in what they are wearing and that the costumes look great on stage. Having been a class rep this year I am confident I would be able to communicate effectively with the show and comp reps, as well as the teachers to ensure everyone’s vision comes to life on stage!


Liv has done such a great job with the merch this year – I love the new designs and the addition of the dance bag was a great idea so would definitely keep all that! I have some more ideas for next year, and you can all see from my poster that my graphic design skills are definitely up to the job ;)

• Bring back the ¼ zip jumper from last year! I don’t know about anyone else, but I literally live in mine so I think everyone else needs one too :)).

• Sweatshirts – I don’t know if anyone will remember but 2 years ago we had some gorgeous ballet sweatshirts in grey and I would love to rework these a bit and have a new version for next year!

• Keep the leggings and joggers – super comfy and good to semi match with modern at comps.

• Keep the tshirt obvs for everyone to wear in classes every week – I would hopefully work with the treasurer to look into the possibility of doing the membership & t-shirt deal again.

• Water bottles to keep us hydrated while working super hard in class – would gauge interest for these via an insta/facebook poll but I would honestly happily have the ballet logo on everything I own hahah.


I know as well that when the ballet merch drop happens, I literally want to buy everything, so will definitely work with the treasurer to make sure the merch can be affordable as possible and find the best deal for everyone!
I can’t wait for my final year with ballet, and I hope you will trust me to find the best costumes and merch for us to wear and make sure everyone on campus knows we do ballet!!
