Hi everyone!

My name is Niamh and I’m a second year Theoretical Physics student. I’m running for president because I have lots of ideas for the society next year and would like to help grow the society into a vibrant, inclusive, and impactful space

Here are some of my goals for next year if I’m elected:

- Focus on a different global health issue each month, such as climate and health, maternal health, infectious disease, or mental health, to keep things fresh, relevant, and educational.
- Run regular events based on these themes (including informal discussions, documentary and film screenings, book clubs, and guest speakers) to encourage regular engagement
- Hold fundraisers for charities tackling the specific health issue we’re focusing on.
- Collaborate with other societies, such as environmental groups, charity groups, or relevant academic societies to make events more diverse and grow the society.
- Launch a student-led campaign in Semester 2, if we have enough engagement in Semester 1, allowing members to choose an issue they care about and push for change on campus or beyond.

I believe this plan strikes a balance between education, advocacy, community-building, and action. I’m open, approachable, and always up for hearing your ideas, and would love to hear everyone’s input for how they’d like to shape the society :)
