Hello everyone,

I'm Sharon, and I would love the opportunity to serve as the Social Secretary for our society.

From the very beginning of my first year, I have been attending the society’s events and gatherings, and what struck me most was how welcomed I felt. It quickly became a community where I truly felt that I belonged. I would love the chance to help pass on that same feeling of welcome and belonging to both new and existing members.

Some of my favorite moments this year have been the pancake party, the Christmas celebration, and the bingo night. These events created such a joyful atmosphere where everyone could relax, laugh, and spend time together. If elected, I would love to organise more events like these where everyone can participate and build friendships, while also keeping Christ at the center of our community.

I also value the time we spend together after morning Mass like staying back, sharing tea or coffee, and having breakfast together. Those conversations are often when strangers become friends, and I especially look forward to those moments each week.

In terms of experience, I have organised events before as the National Coordinator for Meet at Zion for over 2 years, a homeschoolers’ platform where I helped plan and coordinate large gatherings and activities. I have also received training as part of the Intercultural Ambassador programme in the University of Leeds, which has helped me understand the importance of cultural sensitivity and making sure everyone feels included.

If given the opportunity to serve as Social Secretary, I would do my best to help create events and spaces where people feel welcomed, connected, and joyful in fellowship with one another and with the Lord.
