Hello to my favourite 'cricketers'! As someone who can never turn a night out down (even when mischief bouncers have other ideas), I would love to be your social sec. Woman's cricket is one of the most welcoming, social and friendly societies so, I would be nothing but honoured to build on the hard work of others already in place. If I was lucky enough to get this role, I would aim to cater towards all members with an extensive social calendar ranging from different ideas such as sober socials, races, rollover. Not only that but some new ideas which I'd love to share with you!

I believe I am fit for this role as I'm always eager to make sure Wednesdays are everyone's favourite night, which I hoped was proved with my commitment in the freshers fightback social. Plus, I have great time management skills shown with my attendance at mischief, on time uni essays and my 'presence' at lectures. But most importantly, I also have a wide range of connections to other societies for the much loved and anticipated joint socials.

Being someone who also plays cricket as well as being a social member, I appreciate the importance of getting together other than on the wicket and hope to excel at encouraging this further. I'm eager to introduce more team meals, perhaps one each term to really strengthen friendships outside of on the pitch or in popworld. With my organisation and planning skills I will also aim to create a rough social calendar for socials so we can all start looking forward for what is upcoming and plan around the events. My friendships within UOLWCC mean I also have the resources and support to ask for help when needed from the more senior members to make sure we get the most out of the year!

Lastly, I understand that putting my fellow members needs and wants first is fundamental to creating a great society and I will always aim to do just that!

I’m sure you will all agree that I’m quite the eager beaver for a good cricket social, so I would love the opportunity to carry on the legacy of Nia and Jess in being elected social secretary next year. The social side of the club has been a huge part of my university experience thus far and has given me the chance to create so many good memories and meet genuine lifelong friends. I am aware that this role requires good organisational skills, of which I have gained experience through our freshers’ takeover. I gained insight into the various aspects of socials which require planning and organising, as well as being able to adapt to ‘unexpected events’ on the night. Due to my special talents in time management, I will be able to balance my time well between ‘attending lectures,’ doing uni work, going to training, and most importantly planning socials. If elected I will strive to make all members feel welcome and comfortable. Furthermore, when planning our socials, I will aim to make them enjoyable for everyone; from our ‘more eager’ players to social members and even to our very own Wales player. As a part of this, I am keen to have more sober socials next year to not only make UOLWCC more inclusive for non-drinkers but also for the fact that it could be a nice opportunity for members to get to know each other sober to strengthen relationships of the pitch as well as on the pitch and actually remember their conversations. Next year I am also very keen to create ‘families’ whereby new freshers will have older members assigned to them who they can turn to for help or advice. Lots of new ideas for socials next year are already being dreamt up, as well as sticking with some of the classic socials that everyone knows and loves. I believe I will be able to communicate and work well with other members of committee in order to further grow and develop UOWLCC as a society. While also feeling as though I could ask more experienced members for help when needed, as I am very outgoing and have good relationships with many of the club while also being a good team player.
