My role as social secretary has allowed me to be actively involved in the club’s growth this year. I have worked closely with both Rachael and Anna and feel more than prepared to take on the role of Club Captain. Rachael has given the next Club Captain big shoes to fill and I would love the opportunity to lead the club into its next chapter. The growth of the club has been incredible and I’ve been lucky enough, as social sec, to facilitate the introductions of many new members. The club has been a huge aspect of my personal University experience and I know how important it is to so many of its members. My friendships in UOLWCC stretch from the exec committee to the silliest of freshers, and I feel more than comfortable speaking to all members of the club and I am confident they feel the same to reach out to me. With this, I want to build better communication throughout the club, particularly through consistent committee meetings and check-ins with regular members. One of my favourite parts of UOLWCC is the community, and I will aim to be at all training sessions (still only padding up twice a year) and attend all social events (not a difficult aim) so I am always available for members of the club to rely on. My main focus for next year is to get all members as involved as possible, giving beginners and less experienced players an opportunity to play in Summer through local fixtures and friendly games. I have tried hard this year to apply myself in all aspects of the club (not just Wednesdays) and therefore feel confident guiding the committee members in all their roles. With this, I know I cannot know everything and am very happy to speak to past exec members alongside other committee members to get any help I need. It would be a pleasure and an invaluable experience to lead the club in my final year of University, as UOLWCC has been such a big aspect of my last two years.
