Hi guys! For those of you who don’t know me, I'm Sasha and I want to be your society president.

So, if you guys can remember, the dress code for the Otley was what we wanted to be when we were a kid, and I dressed up as an AA recovery driver, because in my diary from when I was 8 I wrote I wanted to be an AA man. The fact I didn’t know being an AA women was possible is a whole other topic I'm not going to touch on. But its always been my dream to work with cars, although I have since gained slightly higher aspirations from recovery driver to automotive engineer. When I found out what Formula Student was in secondary school I knew it was exactly what I wanted to do. I remember sitting in a lecture theatre 8 months ago at the info talk, looking at you all hanging out and talking technical stuff and I remember thinking that’s going to be me. I was so determined that when I applied, I applied to every technical sub team bar one (not going to name and shame). I spent a good 2 weeks on my application and I'm pretty sure I wrote 7 pages in total.

Why am I telling you all this? Because it shows just how much I love this society and how grateful I am every day to be part of it. I want to give back to the society, to see it grow and thrive, not just performance wise but as a social space.

I want it to be a place where everyone is welcome, with a special focus on welcoming newcomers. I want to get to know them and make them feel part of the group. Going to the first few socials with a society can be pretty daunting. You can't work out who knows who, who's new and who isn’t. This is why I want to organise a couple socials alongside the social sec and wellbeing officer at the beginning of the year just for newcomers, so they can find their feet within the society.

Also, I have an unwavering dedication to going to the pub and getting a pint. The reason for the last point on my poster is that I'm willing to fight for the society. I proudly represented gryphon racing in a boat race against motorsport and I'm proud to say we came out the other side victorious.
