Hey guys! I’m Lucy and I am currently a second year studying Economics and History. 🕺This year I have had the privilege of dealing with everything that mixes modern and money, and have absolutely loved it. 🤑As such, I would love an excuse to have an even bigger reason to talk even more about modern as your vice prez (much to my non-dance friend’s disappointment🙏).

I believe throughout the year I have demonstrated my hard core commitment to the modern cause ✊🏻⭐️ From publicly humiliating myself dressed as the eagle mascot to planning my flights for a holiday to ensure I didn’t miss Wednesday classes, I am prepared to sacrifice what is necessary. On a more serious note, modern really has become the foundation of my life in Leeds - driving my work ethic, facilitating the most rewarding friendships and giving me a community and home away from home🏠💕. As such, my number one goal as vice prez would be to do everything possible in my power to ensure that everyone that gets involved in the society in any shape or form gets the same experience as I have.

As treasurer and a member of Exec this year I have gained a very clear awareness of the responsibilities involved within the society leadership, and it would be an honour to follow in both Annie and Steph’s footsteps as incredible leaders. Whilst it may be up for debate whether money actually runs the world, 🌍 💰it is certainly important (economic student alert) and being in charge of moderns finances this year has meant I have had to communicate with every member of our lovely lovely committee which I believe would transfer me nicely into the role of VP.

As a chief yapper who LOVES a chat I believe this to be my number one USP, to be utilised to ensure communication with the whole of committee as well as providing a friendly face for people to speak to in class. Beyond this, I often surprise people who first meet me with my regimented organisation skills and if you were to have a sneak peek at my treasurer notes page for this year, I would hope to give you confidence that I shall not miss a thing in my role next year.

Describing myself as a dedicated mischief attendee who has not missed a Wednesday social this year, I have enjoyed seeing the social culture of the society develop and hope that this will only expand next year!!! 🪩🕺However, I am also keen to ensure the continuation and extension of sober socials and opportunities outside of dance such as a run club to ensure that everyone gets to experience the modern family and make modern centralised to their uni experience. I would also love to introduce the concept of welfare families or ‘modern sisters’ to ensure everyone has a friendly face in class 👯‍♀️

As a member of both ballet and modern, I loved how much the two societies collaborated this year in competition season, and would love to continue this as well as continuing to improve and develop our relationships with other dance societies in Leeds.

Most importantly I cannot express enough how much Modern as a society has meant to my university experience, and it would be an honour to have a role in ensuring other people can feel the same way! Thank you for the long read (I genuinely can talk and write for England).🥰😘
