Hi i’m frankie and i would love to be your treasurer next year! I’m sure everyone has been hassled by me this year but you’ll find me in inter lyrical, jazz and tap as well as nearly every night out 😅

i have loved being this years show rep and i hope you’ve enjoyed the shows. my highlights from the year have to be barcelona chaos and getting involved in the society collaborations- who knew id be so awful at cricket and dodgeball?!?!

this year i’ve worked hard to increase accessibility and inclusivity in modern dance and across the wider union, helping facilitate the first BSL accessible performances at LUU. This work has even gotten modern shortlisted for the Leeds Partnership Awards 2025- this is something i am keen to keep working towards if i were to be a part of next years committee. I’ve spent the past year as a data analyst/economist in the civil service as part of my placement year. As an econ student i believe i’m well equipped to take on the role of treasurer and my show spreadsheets are frame worthy!

Down to the technical stuff, I want to take on this additional responsibility to improve my financial skillset, as an econ student hoping to go into the financial sector this would be invaluable experience for me. My main target for the year would be to provide breakdowns of where your membership fees go and what we are spending our income on throughout the year. I want to help make modern accessible regardless of financial constraints and hopefully be a friendly face that you can come and chat to if you have any concerns with meeting payments without any added pressure! This year I have helped look for opportunities to apply for grants and even helped write some across societies, so I have a little experience so think I stand a good chance at filling Lucy’s shoes!

Hopefully I’ll be looking after your finances in 25/26 and carrying on with supporting other committee roles!

Hey! My name is Ellie and I’m a first year studying Liberal Arts and currently doing Contemporary at Modern. I would love to be Treasurer as I feel it would both really suit my skill set and abilities and also give me the opportunity to become more involved and benefit the society. I have really loved getting involved in many different parts of Modern Dance with classes, shows, socials and varsity and I've met some really great friends during it!

My main aims as Treasurer this year are to ensure Modern’s finances are kept stable, using my organisational skills to keep on top of the financial information throughout the year. My degree is formed of a variety of modules from different schools and so I am used to staying organised and keeping track of information. I also am a very organised person who loves knowing details and tracking things (as an avid notion user!), something I think will be particularly useful for this position. I also have the honour of being voted best budgeter/best with money by my flatmates multiple times so I promise the finances will be in safe hands!

I also want to set and use the budgets to benefit the society and its members in the best way possible. For example, I will continue to make classes as accessible cost-wise as possible for everyone at Modern, by providing anyone who needs it the opportunity to get in touch with the committee and therefore allowing us to do our best to find a solution. To do this, I would also aim to create an open and welcoming position as treasurer so people feel able to communicate any issues they have. I would also like to continue the great job Lucy has done, subsidising items such as show t-shirts and merch to ensure more people have the opportunity to purchase these items. This is because, throughout this year, being able to buy t-shirts for the shows have been a great way to keep a memory of my time so far at Modern and I would love for others to have the opportunity to do the same.

A key aim for me is to ensure that the budget and financial situation is successful and realistic for all aspects of Modern Dance and so communication is a vital part of this. I love working with other people and I will ensure I communicate with other members of the committee to work together and use their input as well as ensuring everyone is kept up to date with budgets and financial decisions. In particular, working with the costume and show rep, I will help come up with solutions to use items already owned by the society or suggest alternatives that most people will be able to bring themselves for costumes, reducing costs associated. I will also help foster a positive and supportive atmosphere with other dance societies to facilitate costume sharing as part of this.

If I am chosen as Treasurer, I can’t wait to continue to be a part of this amazing society and hopefully be able to support it next year! I would also love to use this role to also ensure the society remains a supportive and welcoming environment for everyone involved. I have loved every second of Modern Dance this year and am so excited to make so many more memories, thanks for reading! Dance love, Ellie xxx
