The swim captains are responsible for: 

• Creating a new Swimming performance page on Facebook, and a new WhatsApp group. 

• During the summer booking pre-season training and liaising with the coach to have them there for it. Also booking winter and Easter pre-season training nearer the relevant times. 

• Organising with the Edge a suitable time for swimming trials to take place. 

• Helping to organise meetings with the squad and helping to show new members how to buy their membership.

 • Helping at fresher’s fair, to sign up as many freshers as you can for trials 

• Running trials and making sure to get people to help out for them. 

• Helping coach choose the swim squad, especially those who are going into performance. 

• Ideally having at least one captain present at every training session if not both, and if the coach cannot be there, taking the session. 

• Organising any performance events (meals etc). 

• Liaising with the coach and squad, so that people are attending the sessions. 

• Posting on the group page about competitions and sorting out BUCS entries. 

• Organising Duel in the Pool

• Liaising with the swimming secretary and student’s union to organise BUCS competitions, transport, accommodation, food, registration etc. 

• Organising Transport

Don’t necessarily have to be the best swimmer on the team but need to be committed, friendly and approachable.
