Socials! There’s no denying it, we’re a sociable bunch. The weekly social is the highlight to any society member’s week and it’s the social secs job to make it a good one. Planning the socials, themes, organising pre-social activities and most importantly the weekly dose of hype. They’re responsible for big socials throughout the year, NOR, SGOR, Christmas Meal, House Golf, they’re all big and it’s important to get them right as attendance is high. You need to meet with club organisers at the start of the year to get the best deals and offers possible for the members. Also, play a key role on tour for assisting the VP in creating organised chaos. The social secretaries should be friendly and approachable to every member of the society; the most important thing is that everyone feels involved and has fun. It is good to make sure you are at Fresher’s fairs and trials at the beginning of term to introduce yourself and make sure everyone is part of Sexy Speedo FB group. Social sec is probably the role with least amount of flexibility in terms of the time you have to give up doing a good job, so if you’re applying make sure you’re willing to give up your Wednesday nights etc.! General responsibilities include: 

• Collecting and selling Warehouse tickets for socials 

• Choosing social themes 

• Posting all social details on Sexy Speeds, making FB events for big socials e.g., NOR, SGOR, House Golf, Christmas meal, and doing the social round-up posts with all the juicy goss. 

• Organising payments for Welcome Party and House Golf and buying booze. 

• Organising Christmas Meal venue, payments and people’sfood orders (can usually get cheap deals) • Sorting pre-social activities – organised fun is the best fun.
