My main goal as social secretary would be to create a lit environment within SMS that is enjoyable but safe, and inclusive towards everyone (especially the silly freshers).

To ensure we have optimal fun next year, I intend to communicate with everyone to find people's preferences and possible personal ideas for socials.

As well as continuing the tradition of the beloved fruity Fridays, I would like to plan occasional club nights at other places (such as Bobby’s!) to bring more variety to nights out based on the preferences of everyone in SMS.

Lastly I'd like to incorporate more non-drinking socials such as movie nights and theatre trips for the enjoyment of non-drinkers and the detoxification of the sesh heads. One social I’m keen on making happen during winter is ice-skating!

As Social Secretary, I aim to create an inclusive atmosphere, particularly outside of rehearsals, maintaining that family feel that the past Social Secs have worked hard to create. In order to do this, I would like to suggest more non-drinking socials outside of the club environment (i.e. pottery painting and movie nights), to ensure that everyones preferences are met and recognised.

Furthermore, I feel as though my (and Louis') connections with other societies would benefit SMS socially and I would like to take advantage of this, proposing more socials with other performing groups (TG, MT, OT, Backstage and The Songsmiths).

Finally, I believe I'd make a particularly good social sec as I see myself as an organised, fun-loving yet considerate individual. Therefore you could trust me to organise the socials of your dreams!!!!

As new members of SMS this last semester, we understand the importance of creating and upholding the welcoming environment and family vibe that SMS has. We both recognise the important role a social sec has of welcoming freshers into the society and also the responsibility you have as social sec to make sure everyone is having a good time at a socials. We want to keep what we really enjoy such as fruity, other societies’ performances and our cute cast meals. The new ideas that we would like to put forward are working on making SMS as inclusive as possible by including non-alcoholic and little-to know cost events and using our connections to get more discounted club tickets for us. We are positive that we would be able to translate our great friendship and communication into being your next fabulous social secs! 🫶🏻

Hi everyone! I am also running for Social Sec! I want to put a huge focus on wellbeing and safety within socials, as well as promoting a wider range of social opportunities that don't involve going out or alcohol! Doesn't mean we can't still have plenty of fun!
