Hi, my name is Findlay and I’m currently a First Year student studying International Relations! I’m running for POLIS Society Social Secretary as I believe I can make POLISSOC socials fun and engaging for all society members and create a proper community within POLIS!

If elected, I would aim to organise a wide range of socials on a regular basis, from nights out at the amazing variety of clubs across Leeds (as well as Otley Runs and Secret Socials), to sober socials such as mini golf and bowling. In my First Year at Leeds, I’ve loved the socials organised by the society and have met so many of my close friends through these events and would ensure that other society members get the same opportunity!

I’d also look to give greater control over the type of socials we organise to POLIS members through holding Instagram polls and listening to feedback on previous events. Furthermore, I think it’s essential that social events in the society are kept affordable and I would look to communicate effectively with local businesses and event spaces to ensure discounted prices for POLIS members at these socials.

I would love to be social secretary of politics society because I have so many fun ideas for new socials. I really see the importance in sober socials and also ones that can accommodate as many members as possible.
I have had a great time as part of polissoc this year and would love to continue the fun.
