Hi! I’m Isaac, I study Politics BA, and I’m running to be your next POLISSOC president. As a years-long campaigner in the Labour Party and the Jewish Labour Movement, I am in touch with a huge party that is likely to be our next government. In my two years as an elected Member of the UK Youth Parliament, I had access to the top of British politics, connecting with figures such as Tony Blair, Sadiq Khan, Lindsay Hoyle and Thangam Debbonaire. Having worked part-time this year running the @POLISatleeds Instagram account for the university, I am familiar with the functions of the school, and have established connections with multiple staff. As president I would like to constantly bridge the gap between the society and the department, helping us to have our say in what goes on. As well as supporting and continuing the amazing socials we have, and helping to curate another incredible international trip, I would like to invite more politicians and other figures to speak to the society, enriching our degrees with a practical side. I will help curate an active schedule of diverse events, including collaborations with other societies and the university itself. I will revive the POLIS blog, which will be open to all students who want their academic voices to be heard. In a year of great political uncertainty for me for a strongerand stabler POLISSOC than ever.

I'm James Childs and I am a first year Politics student at the University running to be your President of POLIS for the 2024/25 academic year. I have a keen passion for Politics along side my passions for music gigs and following my football team.

My political experience campaigning in elections, and being a co-host on the hugely popular 'Politics Hour' on LSR, combined with my leadership and organisational experience would make me the perfect candidate to lead our society next year.

If elected, I want to expand POLIS and make it as open and accessible to all students studying the field and beyond by collaborating with similar societies and putting on a host of more social events to ensure maximum opportunity for students across the university to meet and socialise over their interest for the course.

I am dedicated to being 100% accountable to our members and promise to run an open and transparent society, founded on the basis of listening to members voices and wishes to build the best possible society for all its members.

I'm Alex, a 20 year old first year Politics and Philosophy student. This is my second time doing first year as I changed course so it's safe to say that I'm familiar with the experience of being a first year student.

I believe that societies are a great part of university and with politics society we are able to bring people together from all walks of life. By continuing the great work that this years committee has been doing, I think that we could grow even more and provide a place where people feel comfortable to ask questions, whether about the upcoming tutorial prep, deadlines or current affairs.

As President, I'd place a strong emphasis on the wishes of the members of the society in order to find out what people want so we can deliver that to you. Whether that's hosting pitcher (or port) and policy debates, pub quizzes or study sessions, the will of the people will be delivered.

- Improve diversity and inclusion, provide a wide range of speakers, and encourage a diverse membership of POLIS society.

- Encourage academic and social engagement, providing a wide range of society events to attend.

- Publicise politics related networking events and provide more opportunities for professional development.
