Hey, I’m Shafay, and I’m running for PakSoc Photographer!

I’m Pakistani, but I moved to the UK from New Zealand in 2022, so technically I’ve travelled across the world and found my way to PakSoc, clearly it was meant to be. Back in New Zealand, I was involved with PANZ, the Pakistan Association of New Zealand, where I took part in community events and yearly celebrations. So I’ve always enjoyed being around Pakistani culture, community events, food, music, and the occasional AUNTY telling everyone to take one more photo. 😭 I love photography and capturing moments that people actually want to look back on, not just blurry group photos where half the people blinked. Whether it’s events, TikToks, reels, behind-the-scenes clips, or those random funny moments that make PakSoc feel like PakSoc, I’d love to help capture it all properly. If elected, I’ll work with the Media and Marketing team to create content that looks good, feels fun, and shows the real vibe of our society. I’ll also keep photos and videos organised, because future PakSoc deserves better than a random folder called “final final final pics.”
