I’m Shiza & I’ll be going into my second year of law. I’m running for the position of president of the paksoc for the coming year- all because of the encouragement of my dear friend (also the VP for last year), Zulaikha 💕

I think the society has a lot of potential to build on the amazing events we had last year. Having lived most of my life in Pakistan, I connect deeply to my roots & therefore think the PakSoc events in the upcoming year should signify the element of our rich culture more. By working with the committee I hope to encourage more inclusivity & if given the opportunity, I would work hard to make sure there is something for everyone. I believe that together we can not only enjoy our cultural values, music & food within the society but also embody and inspirit them for the rest of the uni members :)

Why vote for me? I have been fortunate enough to hold multiple leadership positions during school & have had the chance to do the same in first year of uni- while running my small business. I’ll also be a part of the women in leadership panel this year, so please trust that I have the experience to take on this role & we can take PakSoc to a whole new level!!

Salam, It's me again. You may have seen me everywhere, but for those who don’t know, I am an aerospace engineering student going into my second year, originally from Manchester with Lahori roots. I have previously served as the Marketing Officer for the 2022-2023 PakSoc Committee and my main objective was to market events whilst collaborating with the head of media. I plan to build upon my past committee experience by applying for the role of President of the Pakistani Society. This manifesto outlines my vision for the upcoming academic year and how it’s time to level up and switch things up. (Now let me cook) My plan is based on “Even when we never had a penny, yeah, we always had spirit” – J Hus; In other words, regardless of how much is in the bank, I will have that spirit to keep pushing for as many events as possible, and this resonates with everyone who will be joining the society in September or is already part of it. The main goal is to put Leeds University PakSoc back on the map and where they belong i.e. better than the rest. To fulfil this mission, I recognise that I will have to complete a few side quests with my committee and I am ready to take full responsibility by supporting each individual with their role, such as using my marketing experience to expand the exposure of Leeds PakSoc to forming enjoyable events with the Head of events. A key objective for my committee will be to generate revenue and funding through sponsors, so we can host frequent and big events. As the president, I will use feedback from this year to improve events whilst communicating future ideas with every single member involved. In the past I have been the team manager and leader of various projects, (such as Formula 1) where I have gained accolades for the work completed by myself and my teams. I feel that I can bring this experience to next year’s PakSoc (let’s be real, mixing my experience with music and vibes, you can’t go wrong). To support international students, next year’s PakSoc will be a home away from home and a community full of cultured individuals. To give a hint of surprises to come, I will be collaborating with several Pakistani societies across the UK as well as other cultural societies within the University of Leeds (Maybe the multicultural games night could be back for season 2). Should I become president, work and planning will begin ASAP, so don’t worry, next year will be very busy.
