My name is Renee, and I am excited to express my interest in the position of Secretary within our society. I am a first year medical student and bring forward a combination of enthusiasm, organisation, and experience that I believe will contribute significantly to the smooth operation of our society.

My previous position as head girl in high school which was a very active role in the student union has developed skills that are closely related to the duties of the Membership Secretary. In particular, preparing agendas, recording meetings in writing, and keeping membership data were some of my main duties within this position. Through these experiences, I have developed a strong attention to detail and experience in efficient organisation, both of which are crucial managing membership records and meeting documentation effectively.

I am genuinely passionate about contributing to the success and cohesion of our African Caribbean Society. If entrusted with the role of Membership Secretary, I am committed to upholding the excellent standard already set by previous members that our society embodies and serving our members to the best of my abilities.

My name is Joyce, and I am a first-year Accounting and Finance student. I am honoured to express my interest in candidacy for the secretarial position as someone who is organised, committed and ambitious possessing traits which would positively contribute to the society.

In 2022, I volunteered as a Sunday school teacher at my church. Through this role, I organised engaging trips, activities, and sermons. I planned and conducted these activities efficiently ensuring that lessons were up to standards. My acquired knowledge and comprehension will now be transferred to the new role, being someone who strives for excellence.

I currently work as a part-time crew member at McDonald's where I have been employed for over a year. This job requires excellent teamwork, communication, and customer service skills. Therefore, I can communicate empathetically and deal with complaints and queries proficiently.

For me, this role would be both exciting and educational. Exciting, because I would develop a network within the underrepresented community within the university milieu. Educational because I will learn new experiences while undertaking this job’s requirements, namely preserving membership records, producing agenda documents, and keeping society members’ information organised in the correct order and place.
With my skills and work experience, I am positive I can fulfil this position to its utmost standard.

If chosen one of my goals would be to build a sense of community within the African Caribbean society working closely with the rest of the committee to ensure that the society is running smoothly and that we operate in cohesion.
