My name is Edward Mbanasor and I will be going into my 4th year of medicine next year. I have a strong desire to take up a career in rheumatology and musculoskeletal medicine.

As the co-founder and first President of LRMMS I am pleased that following the strategic vision I set for the society led us to winning the ‘Best New Society’ award at Worsley Awards 2022 in our first year as a society.

I worked closely with the outgoing education officer to connect to key people in medical school and the rheumatology department to help generate enthusiasm for a mentoring scheme and other LRMMS activities. We also launched MSK OSCE revision sessions. I am part of the conference committee for the upcoming national rheumatology student conference.

I am eager to continue using my insight and experience to help continue to help LRMMS to thrive and have a greater impact to raise the profile of rheumatology among students.

If elected as next year’s educational officer I would be able to continue the work I am the most familiar with; I am best placed to make the mentoring scheme the best it can be and to provide students with valuable educational, research and career development opportunities – this is what I am most passionate about. I also have links to Versus Arthritis and the British Society for Rheumatology where I am kept up-to-date about valuable opportunities for students. I also aim to use the feedback gathered from OSCE sessions to improve student experience.
