Hi guys! I am running for the role of publicist as I think it’s important for information about the activities we run as a society to be accessible and easily available. With this in mind, I would encourage the society’s social media platforms to be places for help and discussion through engaging content, allowing people to easily and quickly find out important information related to the society. I have experience with various photo and video editing applications, including Photoshop, which would help me achieve this. I also spend far too much time on social media anyway and my phone is never far from me, so I think I would be a great fit!! Thank you :)

Hallo!
My name is Holly and I will be an excellent Publicist as I have comprehensive media experience and believe that everyone deserves to feel seen and valued in German Soc!

I will use my role to advertise not only German Soc events but also to provide resources about decolonising the German Studies – as I am dedicated to diversifying the curriculum for languages through the use of media!

I have lots of networking experience as I work for the Goethe Institut alongside my degree and have recently been involved in an international project to diversify language resources in German with the Goethe Institut Sweden and Finland alongside the Design Thinkers Academy in Amsterdam. This project aimed to ensure that educational resources represent the many diverse cultures in Germany whilst ensuring that queer people and people of colour are represented in German Studies.

I will use my role as Publicist to ensure that all people feel embraced by our German Society through regular communication and resources to promote conversation about decolonising German Studies!

I have thorough experience in marketing and the use of social media platforms to raise awareness for gaps in our curriculum, as in six form I used my media skills further to engage in a national business competition called Young Enterprise. I was determined to design a product that would make an improvement to the lives of young people and thus I cooperated with my team to design a product to foster interest in STEM among younger girls, as I had identified a striking absence of women in the field of science, maths and engineering. Social media allowed me to communicate with schools to raise awareness for the absence of women within the sciences and how education in younger years could change this for a more equal future.
