Ever since starting University in September, I have always been an active community member within the Skate Society. Over the last 2 years I have used skateboarding as an outlet to cure my boredom as well as promote a positive wellbeing; I would love to share that experience with everyone within the community.

I am running for President due to my close relations with previous society members; I understand the background work that goes into managing a society, and I would like to continue their legacy and impact for the society.

My vision is to create a larger skateboarding community, whereby people from all demographics are able to join. Furthermore, I aim to provide more skating opportunities within other cities and their skateparks, as well as promote more street skating opportunities within Leeds.

I believe I am a strong candidate for the position of Skateboarding Society President because of both my experience and my genuine passion for the sport. I have been skateboarding for four to five years, during which I have developed not only solid technical skills but also a deep appreciation for the culture and community around it.

Beyond my personal experience, I am particularly interested in supporting and coaching beginners. I enjoy helping new skaters build confidence and learn the basics, and I believe this is essential for growing a welcoming and inclusive society. Skateboarding can feel intimidating at first, so having someone approachable and supportive makes a real difference.

If elected, I would focus on organising more events and activities to engage both current members and new participants. By creating more opportunities for people to try skateboarding in a friendly environment, I hope to attract new members and expand the society’s presence within the university.

Overall, I am motivated, committed, and enthusiastic about contributing to the growth of the Skateboarding Society, and I would be excited to lead it forward.
