As captain you are responsible for the everyday running of the club. You should both be at every training session possible and work together to organise and run sessions. You must be approachable and should only apply for the position if you are certain you can commit the time required as it is essential that you attend training sessions and competitions.

The role includes:

• Select the teams for competitions.
• The running of everyday training, including track, hills and working together with the coach at track and S&C sessions.
• Sort out transport to and from the track for each training session and transport to hills on a Sunday.
• Becoming known throughout the society, getting to know new members and being welcoming and approachable, people need to know who you are.
• Be aware of athletes’ progression and injuries.
• Be present at competitions, even if not competing, to ensure all team issues are addressed.
• Be a leader who members can turn to for information and support.
• Assist with the organisation of Varsity and GIAGs.
• Help the president with jobs throughout the year.
