The Academic and Industry Events Officer is responsible for organising and promoting academic-focused events for the society, ensuring they are accessible, well-publicised, and aligned with members’ academic and professional interests. The role also involves ensuring that all external speaker engagements follow the required approval processes, maintaining compliance and appropriate standards. A key part of the position is developing and maintaining connections with industry, using these relationships to design events that support members’ professional development and career readiness.
Responsibilities:
- Organising academic events for the society
- Publicising academic society events
- Ensuring the External Speaker process is followed
- Securing external speakers from industry for talks, panels, and workshops
- Designing and delivering industry-facing events (e.g. networking events, employer panels, career-focused workshops)
