The President is ultimately responsible for coordinating the activities of the rest of the committee to make sure things happen. They need to be knowledgeable on LUU processes and ideally will have experience on Computing Society or another society committee, have a high level of leadership and organisation skills, and be able to get things done quickly in critical situations. This role requires significant time investment over the summer in order to prepare for the year (booking rooms, setting out a calendar of events, coordinating collaborations with the SoCS and industry) and also requires a high level of time management skills in order to lead the society throughout the year - the President needs to be aware of all upcoming events and direct committee members to prepare for the event well in advance. They therefore need to be able to commit to consistently dedicating time to the society, balancing this with university busy periods.
Responsibilities:
- Organising and overseeing the running of the society
- Chairing Committee Meetings, AGMs and EGMs
- Ensuring the production of an annual report
- Ensuring there is an up-to-date entry in the society’s LUU webpage
- Ensuring the Code of Conduct and risk assessments are communicated to all members
